| Embarrassed and a bit ashamed of the club today 19:47 - Mar 23 with 19283 views | Nutkins_Return | I'm sure I'll get a bit of 'i'm overreacting' downvotes but genuinely feel disgusted and embarrassed that reform our being hosted at our club. Personally don't think the club should be getting involved in anything with a political leaning to it from any party. But to host reform, and that cretinous toad Farage has really shocked me. That's bad judgement and and Ashton has just sunk down massively in my estimation for allowing this. Someone needs sacking for that lack of judgement. I hope Ashton didn't know about this (impossible) and apologises. Gross. | |

| Embarrassed and a bit ashamed of the club today on 20:18 - Mar 24 by HighgateBlue | Personally I think it's embarrassing, but I am surprised by the sheer strength of feeling on this issue. I am not ashamed of the club. I think that puts it too strongly. It was a PR horlicks. I really really dislike Farage. There will of course be some fans who will vote for his party. Personally I can't understand why, but there will definitely be some. The club shouldn't be associating themselves with any party in my view. It's more annoying because it's Farage, but the principle applies across the board. I really don't think that a photo op with a shirt is sleaze, racism or extremism on the club's part. Learn, understand why quite a lot of fans are angry, and move on, I think. |
Pretty much where I am too.

I mean, yes damned if you do, damned if you don't, I get that, but as Robert Webb once said in a sketch, that statement was like pouring fire onto an already fiercely burning fire. Dumb dumb dumb. And woefully naive.

| Embarrassed and a bit ashamed of the club today on 11:25 - Mar 24 by bluejacko | This visit has not attracted any attention on MSM at all,it’s only on here and Facebook that it has been mentioned anywhere! All right you don’t like the bloke but are you all going to be giving up your season tkts in protest? I would venture to suggest the vast majority of town fans didnt even know about the visit and probably are not giving it a second thought. |
It made the R5L sports bulletin late this afternoon just before Salah news broke, as well as Nigel's "best of luck" video receiving 1.8M views on Reform's X page. Appreciate you made your comment some hours before tho!

You are more than entitled to finish with Town, I assume you will be doing all of the below too? If you attend games, you can put your ticket up for resale, cancel the DD, leave TWTD and maybe follow local football or Col U if you live in the area. Sorted. As put perfectly by Churchers on another thread.

Are you trying to shame someone for having principles? You've had stronger words against people angry and upset with the events than anyone involved!

No shame. They are all entitled to do as they please, paying supporters at the end of the day. Just of the opinion that there is a huge overreaction to this. He and other fans (or ex-fans, if you like) are welcome to stop supporting the club over this, but also wondering on wether they really will. Personally, my life has not changed one bit because Ipswich Town hosted a politician at the club, and looking forward to the visit of Birmingham after this break. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

No but there is a very real danger that your life will change in the future if the real possibility of them getting control happens. Open your eyes mate. Look what can happen when dangerous, self serving, right wing loons take control. Are you not seeing America!!? This sh#t is real now. And our football club just gave it a platform.

*If they’re in the UK, which may not be the case. But I agree it won’t be good for those of us in the UK, except for mega donors. I can’t get my head around why anyone would support him given all he’s ever done is undermine the UK and make us worse off. It’s like kids wanting a visit from Jimmy Saville at Christmas. It defies logic and understanding.

| Embarrassed and a bit ashamed of the club today on 23:34 - Mar 24 with 947 views | pointofblue | I have no idea where to post this, and do not want to be a hypocrite by starting afresh, but do we really need a new thread every time someone has a thought about this whole business. I just scanned the first page and practically every thread is about the visit. It makes me think Phil needs to add a new option to choices at the top alongside General, Football and All. I loathe Farage and what he stands for, and the club have handled the whole thing abysmally, but sometimes less is more when it comes to thread making (not aimed at the OP - I chose to post in this one as I think it was one of the first to made). | |

| Embarrassed and a bit ashamed of the club today on 09:12 - Mar 24 by OldFart71 | I don't think the club has the same options as a pub in that if they don't like your face they can say go away. If the booking is made in the correct manner the club could be open to all sorts of litigation for turning down a booking because they don't like them. As long as they aren't seen to be biased and say turn down Labour or the Greens I don't see a problem. Do we want a democratic country or not. Some would say that it has been destroyed already by allowing one to protest and say what they like whilst another is not allowed. |
A football club deciding to allow or to not allow reform to use their premises is not a representation of democracy and that is an incredibly odd take and a massive reach. As for your last statement - that is just your projection. You are allowing your confirmation bias to shine through because you believe it to be true even though it very clearly is not.

We’ve never had any post discipline on here. It relies on people being aware and choosing to add, just as you have here. I don’t know why, it’s just always been this way and I doubt another category would change it (this is a football issue too of course, so should be in football). It the same on match days where we could easily have one match thread instead of 2 pages of posts with no replies to most of them.

That is a ridiculous comment, I have supported the club since 1964 and as my wife will tell you….my love for this club will never end and it will take more than this PR stunt to stop me watching my beloved club. The badge is bigger than us all, however much Ashton might think.

Your opinion and stance is completely valid. As is the poster in the quotes. People will have their lines in the sand, and everyones will be different. To label it as ridiculous is...ridiculous.

| Embarrassed and a bit ashamed of the club today on 22:23 - Mar 23 by PositivelyPortman | I absolutely detest any right wing political parties, but especially frog face and his mob of scum. Surely the easiest thing to have done is to say that we don’t accept any bookings from ANY political parties. I do feel shocked at Town accepting the booking, for me it just doesn’t fit our ethos. |
For sure it should have been obvious that this was going to be used as a blatant political stunt , not just a simple stadium tour . I can't believe the club would be so naive .....to allow the shirts to be displayed in the dressing room shows the club were happy to go along with this cheap trick from a well known con artist who has no interest in ITFC .

| Embarrassed and a bit ashamed of the club today on 10:38 - Mar 24 by FrimleyBlue | When booking the private tours, you have to include a business name, not only that but you send an enquiry., Not an automatic booking. So are we to lead to believe that at no point the club knew that it was reform making the booking.. |
The very fact that the club allowed the shirts to be displayed in the dressing room shows that they were fully aware this was going to be a publicity stunt well before the actual visit . They had plenty of time to say a publicity stunt would not be allowed
| Embarrassed and a bit ashamed of the club today on 12:00 - Mar 25 with 518 views | Lazza | Norwich fan here in peace. There were a few threads on this in the PinkUn forum. They got taken down, then after a protest, a few bad comments were removed and they were put back up, but locked. Pretty much every commenter was actually in sympathy with the Ipswich fans. Yes we have our rivalry, which runs very deep for a lot of supporters, but we do agree on this subject. We would be equally shocked and disappointed if this happened at our club. This is nothing to do with football. I don't think I've seen such sympathy for Ipswich supporters on a Norwich forum other than when a great player passes away! Which shows the depth of feeling tis has invoked! | | | |

I had a post blow up on threads about this, over 2k likes and many, many very kind and sympathetic Norwich supporters- some things are more important than football.
