Do you think the shops had run out of black trousers when the fella in the lighter ones went to buy a pair?

Can't imagine that the bloke that owns Tingly Teds will be happy about that.

It was an entirely predictable consequence the moment those doors were opened. If people at the club didn't have the foresight to see this it really is deeply concerning.

Interesting if Farage has done some clever SEO stuff too.

I tried this and typing Ed Sheeran into X the first post that comes up is Nigel Farage's post in my OP

"Ipswich Town Football Club, who have not shared any of the posts, opted not to comment about the visit when contacted." That's not really good enough.

He's due in Norwich on the 31st. It'll be interesting to see what photo-ops come from that trip.

Thats out at Easton on the Norfolk Showground, nowhere near the city

The issue for me isn't the visit, it is that he was able to bring his media team and put out the sort of content inside the ground that mirrors and is of the quality that the club's media team puts out.

The club is meant to be apolitical and should surely have put some restrictions on him, given he was a guest on the property. As it is, it comes across as if they bent over backwards for him.

In addition, this sort of thing is light years away from the sort of things that, say, a local MP would do in connection with a local club.

To paraphrase a common expression, "he [Farage) must have seen them [the club] coming".

I expect crisis meetings have been in full flow this morning, whilst they decide what response, if any, to put out. Until then it will be radio silence.

He had no need to be in Ipswich Town centre or Felixstowe in any way either, given his event was out at Trinity Park

Stopping the tour may well have been difficult . Reform are a registered political party, Farage is a Member of Parliament. However, the club could have stipulated that no images featuring the club’s trademarked logos and images may be used to promote the Nigel Farage MP or Reform UK.

I think that is negligent of Ashton and his staff.

No. We aren't a public sector body subject to regulations here. As a private company, ITFC can choose who is an acceptable customer for any reasons it chooses, so long as we don't break the law. There's a clear commercial imperative at play here. Allowing any serving politician, especially this one, to become affiliated with or endorsed by the club, whether intentionally or not, is alienating for the supporters. It's bad for business. Hence we are completely within our rights to choose to reject serving politicians from attending our tours and into situations where they could appear to be endorsed by the club.

This is not just about the photos, the heinous mistake is that Farage was allowed on the tour in the first place.

The club needs to own this, and fast.

Yup.

The club is making this worse. They are alientaing fans disillusioned at how this could happen at our club. Make a statement and you may get some supporters threatening not to attend and buy merchanside to forgive. Bat it away as if nothing has happened and you do permanent damage to the club.

Fans are commenting how they are getting messages from supporters of other clubs in disbelief and asking why our club backs Reform. This is how it looks to oustiders...and not shutting that down with an official statement is enabling it.

The lack of club comment is truly astounding.

This will hit MSM soon, PA are already asking for supporter comments
