Christ.

when you watch the video, the person to the left holding the shirt flat for farage to sign is wearing a very similar tie to the one ashton wore when he met king charles!

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

the point is that the club allows people to take phones with them on the tours, and it encourages them to film themselves in the various places covered by the tour. if that's what farage did, just using an iphone, then he did nothing different from what all others on the tour do. no camera team or special equipment. having taken their money and let them take take the tour could the club really have taken their iphones away?

They didn't need to take anything away from them

They simply could have said, photo's are welcome to be taken, however they are not to be used for commercial use.

That's pretty simple

"did nothing different from what all others do on the tour"

Yeah, because everyone else is the head of a political party. Or using Portman road to say they should be in number 10

Christ, have half a brain man and think why this might be a little bit different to you or I going in and taking selfies next to the uefa cup!!

I don't think anyone has suggested he was invited.

But this isn't even a normal private tour. Someone has gone above and beyond.

By being duped by Farage or we've agreed to their demands. Either is poor.

My post on it on X appears to have got 4,100 likes too, so now I have all Farage's army after me for being woke, gay, a nonce etc...

Have to wonder if these come out of the cabinet every tour…

Think it's pretty clear now that club and Ashton knew this was happening. So they've also now lied to the fans.

Would imagine agreement was basically 'Dont tag official club on socials'.

Gone well seeing as it's now making national news https://www.lbc.co.uk/article/

"The club declined to comment, but another supporter described it as “PR suicide for a family club”.

That's me! :)

It does look like it.

If it does, he needs to go. Pretty clear endorsement of a political party in the name of teh football club.

Farage writing ‘To Mark’ on a town shirt means the club is endorsing his party and Ashton should go!?

Jesus wept.

Obviously a rare own goal IF the club were aware and let them film inside the ground as they appear to have done, but how on earth is Ashton responsible for what NF writes on a football shirt?

and they should say that to everyone. do they state that as a condition of the tours? does no one post their tour photos on social media?

no, but ai can be fun . it's pretty obvious in this case that the very short clips are well within the capacity of a modern iphone. it's then been competently edited. an "expert" would know that.

How have they lied?

The article literally states:

“ full extent of what was involved did not become apparent to the club until later that day when social media posts emerged on the party’s official account.”

They literally have put out they didn’t know what what was going on in this article!

If one hand they say there was no official involvement and then Ashton is standing next to Farage while he signs a shirt, can't you see how that is maybe problematic?

This is more than filming inside the ground.

This is a full scale PR video, that is now plastered all over the internet.

"not sure the club could of done anything as it was too late - if you honestly believe the club and reform are collaborating then you’ve lost your mind" - allowing a politician into this situation in the first place was the mistake. We would have been entirely within our rights to reject Reform and or Farage from attending the stadium tour. Need to own this mistake now.

If they genuinely had no involvement, there was a very simple statement early this morning:

"We were unaware of the intended use of the media from The Reform Party visit to Portman Road and would not have approved it if known"

That due to time and now the other 'evidence' appears to have long gone.

Some above are saying he is next to Farage while he is signing the shirt.

If true, it isn't great.

You are adding 2+2 and making 5. Which, equally, isn't great.

Phil, i think you've been fobbed off by the club if they seriously think they can peddle out the 'This was just a private tour' nonsense.

Can you not use your journalistic qualites and contacts to actually find out what has gone on here, because rightly so, decent supporters with morals are not being miugged off with this line.

I guess the answer is no because you have a reputation to uphold with the club. A shame.

The club not being aware of what's going on in their own stadium is surely a concern in itself?

The trouble now is that the silence speaks volumes, I really am alarmed as to how this has been allowed to happen. Especially as Farage is using the visit for engagement on Twitter.

Nope. Couldn't care less on Twitter likes or whatever it is now.

I'm literally just repeating what someone above said and if it is signed for Mark then it is problematic for their story.

Let’s not start conspiracy theories. There’s enough wrong with this without that.
