I honestly can’t answer that question right now. What I can say is that the events of this week are reprehensible to me and challenge every fibre of my moral compass - not only the hosting of the leader of Fascism Uk but also the blatant lies and mealy mouthed BS from the club since.
I remember doing a stadium tour with school 40 years ago and feeling in awe as I walked into the changing room. When I saw REM at Portman Rd 20 years ago just being allowed to stand on the pitch gave me goosebumps. And when Ipswich lost 9-0 to Man Utd back in 95 I went out in Leeds that night wearing my Town shirt. That’s what this club means to me. So watching Farage waltz around those places I hold so sacred, holding aloft a shirt I have worn with pride too many times to mention makes me sick to my stomach.
Add to that I can’t stand football as a sport anymore, it’s f***ing tedious and I haven’t watched a non-Town game for at least 15 years. But despite my dislike for the sport generally, I still get up at 3am every week to watch Town and I still spend at least an hour on TWTD a day (as I have every day since 1997). I can’t imagine my life without Town in it - it’s the thing I have loved the most my whole life outside of my family.
So I will probably still watch them, just like the countless people around this world unable to leave an abusive relationship. But I do feel like a little piece of me has died inside.
