Yawn……..Another one who needs to grow up and support the team and manager. See the wider picture for goodness sake !

| ASHTON on 11:31 - Mar 28 by blueoutlook | I certainly hope and doubt he will use our club as a rallying point. All I am saying is OUR club is bigger than Farage and Ashton. We will move on and I hope you will be part of it. I definitely will, can’t give it up,too much history between me and it. I’m a huge Who fan. Have a few beautiful posters up. I know the poster you are talking about. See, music is my other obsession. I have literally thousands of albums. My Mrs does her nut,but again I can’t part with them, to many memories. Nice chatting. |
Farage as a shameless self publicist uses anywhere and everywhere he goes as a rallying point. It’s what politicians all do. Ghastly species of frauds and liars of which he of course, as a mini-me trump, tops the lot at the moment. Yes the club is far bigger than him and MA and will hopefully be there long after they’ve gone. My economics master at school was a musician and had been on tour many times with the Who. He said that anything you’d ever heard about Keith Moon’s crazy antics didn’t touch the surface. He was off the scale.

I fully intend to support the team and manager, both of whom have had absolutely nothing to do with this and, if reports are to believed (and I see no reason why they shouldn't be given their sources), have been impacted negatively by the actions of our leadership. So. just out of interest, given the above, is it ok for me to be entirely dissatisfied by the actions of our leadership and continue to campaign for actual action and answers, whilst continuing to support the team in their hunt for promotion? Ok so why are you still supporting Ashton after a complete non apology or acknowledgement of his actions? He is neither the team nor the manager, many of which have been tarred by this brush and probably would prefer to see some kind of action. I'm not sure why you think burying your head in the sand it particularly mature or supportive. I've got no problem supporting KMac and Mckenna but by being fine with keeping Ashton in place you're being implicit in harming the club, that isn't support.

No need to listen to me, just found it incredible you've become what you seem to dislike so much after games, a poster with a differing view. And i've replied to various posters. I havent however commented about you.

| ASHTON on 11:12 - Mar 28 by Churchman | So did I and with a few notable exceptions (Baltacha’s debut, for example), they were. Long ball, tactics free, pretty clueless manager albeit a nice bloke. Harbey, 10,000 crowds and a sense of hopelessness. It took somebody who knew what they were doing, the underrated John Lyall, to perform a near miracle and turn that sorry mess into a good entertaining team. |
We had some decent players, but John Duncan really was not much good at all and rarely got a song out of them. David Lowe was my favourirte player in those days.

My favourite John Duncan moment is not a Town one but when he got Chesterfield to an FA Cup semi-final and was so, uncharacteristically, het up at one point that he almost snapped his glasses in half as he took them off.

| ASHTON on 11:36 - Mar 28 by blueoutlook | David Lowe, yes, he did have that stoop about him, but he had an eye for goal. Romeo was a good player, typical Dutch touch on him. The plane fiasco was funny, probably not for him at the time. Dalian was a monster could turn a game in five minutes. Remember the Middlesbrough game ? He tore Mowbray and was it Palister ? a new one. I remember that Port Vale game, wasn’t there but we were blo0dy awful that day by all accounts. |
I do remember the M’boro game because we weren’t expected to win. I’d reushed up after working away and for the game thinking ‘why am I bothering?’. Arrived just before kick off. One of my better decisions. What a performance he put in. Unplayable. Anyone who endured a Port Vale hiding deserves a merit certificate! I do remember us playing a miserable game against the giants of Bournemouth. They really were tall! I had neck ache for days. And we lost 2-1 I think. I also was one of the Stockport hardies. God, that was a miserable one, though I think that was in the 90s

Yes some, not all. And that is one of the many reasons this is so bad and such a self inflicted wound. I have family members who feel the way you do, with differing opinions, and we could put any of that behind us and unite in our love for the club. Ashton and his behaviour has created division where it did not need to be. It’s an absolute disaster of his making.
