Four goals in the last nine for him, a lovely assist against Brum, and I thought he was very good all round yesterday – bit of a lone furrow at times but a lot of stuff stuck to him and let's not forget he set the move in train that ultimately brought his goal. Much more like the striker we know and expect over the last couple of months, great to see.

Yep. He's had a really tough season, where it's felt like the harder he tries the worse it gets, but a decent couple of months has played a big part in getting us close to the line.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

It was a great finish

If he does truly click into form then the run in should be straightforward

Yes, and he's clearly been through the wringer mentally, and admitted as much and said he's worked on it. Good man. Starting to see the old Hirsty more and more now and what's more, having gone through it he'll be an even better, stronger player for it.

Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

I like Azon, but I have a felling that if it had been Hirst on the end of the pass from Nunez it would have been 3-0. Just the sort of chance he loves, running on to a quality ball.

Azon just seems to lose all ability to keep his balance when he gets a chance through on goal. Exactly the same issue in the home fixture when he farted a shot against the post. Luckily Clarke tapped in the rebound.

I didn't realise he'd reached double figures.

Lovely stuff.

And ironically he should play that ball to the right to Clarke, leaving the GK stranded and Clarke with an empty goal. Although I'll give him the benefit that as Clarke was behind him, he didn't see him.

What was it with him keep falling over yesterday? Would be a better striker if he thought of a goal first rather than winning a free kick.
A few of our players have slipped into foul first mode lately. Is it just the premier league effect from lady year maybe.
The Norwich defender yesterday tried the same thing expecting Azon to barge him. Made a right tit of himself when he grabbed the ball and got correctly booked.

He's been much more like his old self of late and it's great to see. Azon has also upped his game since January. Both of them have really stepped up actually from the transfer window onwards and our form over that period has been really good, so some of the upset over us not securing a new number 9 has been proven to be misplaced. Definitely an area we'll need to strengthen if we go up but Hirst and Azon are very decent at this level and Hirst has the physicality to be a decent option a level up too as he showed last year.

I think with azon he just has poor balance. He always looks like hes about to fall over.

It hasn't helped that when he has had a dip in form, the reaction of the fans has been to dig at him. Hopefully, people realise the more you support these players during form dips, the more likely they are to come good again, but not only that, they will remember that support and want to pay us back.

Was it a coincidence we got behind him at Watford? Then he scores on 77'

I agree on the balance thing. Despite being in control of the ball and under limited pressure, Azon seems to be falling over on most of his shots. Whilst he has been on the wrong end of at least two world class saves, he has spurned some really simple chances on a consistent basis. By rights, the 5 goals he does have should easily be 10 if not more. Natural finisher he is most certainly not. Indeed, he has a problem staying on his feet full stop. Excluding going to ground far too easily, he simply fell over twice yesterday just changing direction! If we can get over the line, not sure I would sign him for the Premier League, even as 3rd choice.

I’ve digged him out all season long, but fair play to him. Saves his best performance of the season for Norwich away.

Coming into form at a very good time. Don't think there's any hiding away from the fact he's had a very ropey season for the most part but double figures for goals in a season for the first time since he was with Portsmouth in League One can't be sniffed at.

Think Azon's looked a better all-round striker for a little while now and maybe McKenna starting to favour him has given Hirst the kick he needed (and shielded him from the firing line for a bit). Whatever it is it's good to feel more comfortable now that we can use both across a game (in either order) and get a good return out of them.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Definitely taken over from Azon as the pick to start. Looked very good yesterday. Couple on target. Good goal. Battled well. Currently offering more than Azon, who will surely go at the end of the season regardless of what league we are in.

Yep was excellent, other than great goalkeeping, he’d have had a hat-trick.
