No Neil started on Tuesday. Trying to think who has come into the squad in place of Cajuste. edit. Of course, Taylor. [Post edited 2 May 11:20]

Yes so he's taken his place on the bench (Taylor has taken Neil's place)

I think Azon should have started, but no real complaints anywhere else. Clarke is very good off the bench.

Maybe there's appearance fees or something against Cajuste. McKenna's approach used to be no CB on the bench unless no other option. [Post edited 2 May 12:03]

Maybe we can't play him again without being forced to sign him? In which case, KM chose to use the one spare appearance on Tuesday, rather than today.

I would say that's probably the least surprising thing ever. How on earth would you expect Young to be in the squad for a must win game having not played in months and not fit? We have to win a game of football worth about £100 Millon. You think we would be sentimental. That would be SentiMENTAL! No Cajuste is the big surprise to me. He was brilliant off the bench the other night and if we need a goal... [Post edited 2 May 11:50]

Better Cajuste than Akpom on the bench

I suppose if it's getting late and we do still need a goal, although he's hardly had a great season, Akpom is still historically a goal scorer

Re Cajuste - I reckon KM has seen what we’ve all seen, he hasn’t got two consecutive good performances in him. I love the guys style, he’s so tall and silky, but sadly he’s just not cut the mustard enough.

No way that is the reason. If it was felt it gave us any better chance of winning, we would have him playing or on the bench. It is the best 11 and subs we can field. Cajuste has done nothing to justify being ahead of Neil and the defender on the bench is wise for a game where we might need to see out a win or draw that might even conceivably be enough.

A little surprised Hirst starts ahead of Azon on recent form but I guess McKenna knows Hirst can perform under the pressure.

I wonder also whether it is with a view to us having a lot of the ball, facing a low block, and wanting a presence in the box for crosses.
