I'm one of the people that didn't agree with the Farage saga but also thought there had been a bit of an overreaction in some quarters. However I don't think Ashton's helped himself at all by being front and centre of the celebrations. It's staggering that he hasn't had the self awareness to realise that he's not the most popular person in town at the moment and should've left the players and staff to receive the limelight. As others have rightly said, it's just not in his character to applaud in the background and he thrives at the thought of being centre of attention.
Even if the whole Farage nonsense hadn't happened, it would be weird for the CEO and chairman to be leading the promotion celebrations.
Leave it to the players and coaching staff.
