In which case it wouldn't surprise me if he's written off those who aren't fans of his, and is now doubling down on playing to his base. Probably not dissimilar to his mate Nige.

If he’s staying, we desperately need a Chairman installed to rein him in

True sadly | |

| Classy ? on 11:56 - May 5 by Herbivore | Why do you feel the need to lump everyone who disagrees with you in a category of "you lot"? The people who are pissed off at Ashton span a variety of posters, they aren't a homogenous group. It's also not a nothing story. I'm sure if the Norwich chairman/CEO was joining in derogatory chants about an equivalent figure at Town it would be picked up on by us and our local media. It's not great behaviour. Fans engaging in this sort of stuff is one thing, even players to some extent, but the leadership at the club should be above all this. It speaks to his character, again. |
Not that it fits your narrative does it. Delia was always spouting off about Ipswich when there was no need. Every single time you lot mention negatively Ashton, I will counter it. Might as well get used to it Herbybore. Im also not to going to type rude or hurty words. Ive learnt that plays into your hands.

Was she ? I don’t recall that Surely you can’t argue that (if true) the chairman of a large public organisation shouldn’t be calling an 84 yo lady an ahole in public ?

| Classy ? on 11:38 - May 5 by DJR | Sounds like, after Faragegate, he went to the PR firm that advised Gerald Ratner to ask them how to dig himself out of a hole. Of course, this may go no further than the EDP, but it strikes me as madness given the far greater focus the club will be under in the Premier League. And the answer to the question, given his position, is no. Indeed, I would have thought that a letter of apology is in order. But I don't think he knows the meaning of the word. After Faragegate, he feels untouchable. He's on Talksport now. Seems to have come out of hiding. | |

It also doesn't reflect well on our captain. I think a certain leeway is allowed for ordinary players (Kayden and Nunez spring to mind) but those in positions of responsibility ought to be more guarded especially in a public setting.

I'm guessing that your energetic quest to go instantaneously and hyper-aggressively on the front foot against anyone who is critical of Ashton in any way is, in essence, based on defending the club or a part of the club in the form of an official of the club, rather than any feeling of approval for the man's actions? The former I can sort of understand, but also there has to be a limit. I find that song pretty repulsive and cringe coming from the terraces, let alone from the CEO. Edit: watched the video again - no doubt. [Post edited 5 May 12:22]

I sensed yesterday that he was safe given the prominence he was given by speaking at the celebrations but if he's on Talksport that would appear to confirm it.

On the surface there’s two fully grown blokes leading a chant that verbally abuses a 84 year old woman whilst a young kid looks on. The context being that it’s happened in the midst of highly emotional celebrations topped off with alcohol. Does that excuse the abuse - I don’t think so. In positions of power the individual(s) has a duty of responsibility towards the club. But let’s be honest, this will be glossed over and forgotten about very very quickly.
