In 1974, I couldn't persuade anyone in my class at Northgate to support Scotland in the World Cup. Indeed, they took delight when Scotland lost. I put it down to jealousy because England hadn't qualified.

I had supported England in the 1970 World Cup, but because of that reaction, it was ABE for me from that moment onwards.

It's funny the amount of anti-bile and resentment is dished out, but the moment the English respond, they get all hurt and angry all over again.

I tend to keep quiet here because it is not worth the aggro or abuse. Many are nice, but there are some truly bitter and twisted folk in Scotland and this goes well beyond "banter".
