Funny you say that, Maeda was apparently in the Japanese place opposite the Regent last night with another Japanese footballer. Could it have been Ueda?!
How did they know he was a) a footballer and b) Japanese...?

I think Ueda is in a level above Maeda, He's been elite for Feynoord, Cercle and Japan.
Also I believe I've previous read that Matusiwa is fluent in Portuguese?
His older bro who played for Angola a couple of times, was born in Angola, whereas Azor was born in the Netherlands - so assume his family moved over in that period between them, and would likely be native Portuguese speakers and he would be able to as well judging from anyone I know whose parents speak a different first language
Makes a lot of sense if the price isn’t outrageous. Ueda turns 28 in a couple of weeks so won’t be too much re-sale value.
Clearly a great finisher but scores a tonne of headed goals despite being 5’11, wonder how that would translate to the prem.
If we can’t get Ueda done, Francilino Dju or Zian Flemming would be good options.
I would imagine the fee wouldn't be too dissimilar to what we paid for Emersonn. I think he's one of those where the value is really in his instant output rather than any profit you can turn. If he comes in, scores a dozen big goals and we stay up then he's paid his fee.
I want Awonyi as I really do think we need some proper physicality but this would be a good deal for us. Maybe GON thinks we have that in Emersonn and Hirst/ Akpom.
We've seen out signings come in waves this summer. How much better would we all feel if by the end of next week we have Florentino, Lukic, Enisco and Ueda through the door?
Thought he looked fantastic at the World Cup, in fact I was going to mention him on the thread about players we should go for but looked him up and thought he’d be out of our league so didn’t bother!
Yes please 👍
Highlighting crass stupidity since sometime around 2010
Not great, is it? I remember when a £500k signing was genuinely exciting. Now we're rotating half the squad every summer and spending £200m in the process. I think I've just become hedonically adapted to it.
I keep reminding myself it’s a good thing we are where we are and our current situation is vastly better than being in L1 or stumbling to 15th every year in the championship. It’s weird to be somewhat blase about signing players who just played in the World Cup. Leon Best era this ain’t. Yet it all feels a bit off when promoted clubs have fk look to spend 150 - 200million just to have a shot at finishing 4th from bottom.

it's why i think supporters haven't really gelled with the players, we have had so much churn in 2 years, it's been hard to get really attached to players like we had before promotion to the premier league.
Hopefully we can stay up and bring in 5 or 6 really good additions to stop the churn.
strikers from the dutch league always make me nervous. half turn out to be world beaters and half turn out to be no hopers. the Scotland of mainland European leagues.

At this level it doesn't really matter anymore, we can just buy another striker and file under Ogebene.

The churn doesn't stop now, this is just the start of it.
If we stay up we either sell top performers on to bigger teams or we replace the lesser performers with better players.
The days of us having settled players and probably a settled manager are gone
