| Offer in for Exequiel Palacios… on 16:51 - Aug 9 with 2444 views | Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | We must have made a bid if Fab put his name to it like that. Which blows peoples theories out of the water that we weren’t going to pay him the big wages. So players representatives have surely kept us interested. Of course though, the more PL clubs the better in terms of getting the best deal for their client. Having it out there that we have out a formal offer in may well get others moving as well. I can’t see it happening and nothing has suggested he truly wants to come either. but would be insane if we pulled it off. [Post edited 9 Aug 16:55]

| Offer in for Exequiel Palacios… on 16:59 - Aug 9 with 2376 views | tetchris | We can’t afford his wages and I’m not sure Bayer can either as asked him to take 25% pay cut as didn’t qualify for Europe. £125k a week minus 25% (£31,250) is £93,750 pw. O’Shea is our top earner on £35k pw. Don’t see it happening. Rumoured £40mil transfer fee is achievable but wages outside our level of affordability. | | | |

There is no way O’Shea is our top earner now let alone on that little now we are in the prem and have signed players.

Nonsense And we have people on over 60k a week already in the building this summer.

Come to us, you don’t have to play midweek champions league and you will amaze your friends... By ability to pronounce IPSWICH. Sadly, still believe this is an agent led trading game

You've pulled wages from Capology haven't you? None of our player wages are verified - they haven't got a clue. They put our total wage bill at less than £30M. It was more like £65M when we were in the PL. So it will be will north of that for this coming season. O'Shea is probably on >£50k/week now (PL level). Possibly well beyond that. I can see our 26/27 wage bill rising to £100M (still modest in the PL). That would be an average of £75k/week, so there will be those closer to 50k, and some around 100k. Time to wake up and smell the coffee...

It may not happen or it might but if any Argentinian comes to Town they've got big shoes to fill from the previous Argentinian at Town! |

I think you're about to have your twtd membership cancelled. Edit: that will teach me for multitasking by doing other writing with a pint in the sun, and misreading your very good reply. Sorry. Previous, not first. As you were. [Post edited 9 Aug 17:36]

Exactement. When we signed Ben Johnson, we did a deal for £60k per week. And we are without doubt paying more this time around. The link says he is on E5.25M p.a., in other words E100k, so about £90k per week. He'd be at the top of our wage structure no doubt, but it's within the bounds of the possible.

| Offer in for Exequiel Palacios… on 14:05 - Aug 9 by IpswichBlue18 | Why? Enciso and Palacios are completely different types of players, who play completely different positions? |
Yes, they play in ACM and No.10 respectively. However, we can't fit both those positions if we're also fielding 2 DCMs - of which we now have a large collection (and which we'll need if the FBs are high up the pitch).

I think it's important to have flexibility. Just because we've signed Luis and Lukic shouldn't mean signing a number eight or number ten is sacrificed. I imagine Nunez will be an option, along with Palacios or an equivalent, so we would have five central midfielders with different abilities as and when required. And then Enciso and Engeli covering the number ten position.

Now I understand why we have had to wait so long, it was only ever going to be a a Batistuta/Palacios double-signing

Has something changed from Romano's post, as that claims four other clubs are chasing him.

I'm guessing she wasn't on £145k a week tho?

It’s 19.5m across three years. Why can’t we afford that? Any top Midfielder is going to be on 70-90 so it’s an extra 5 million across three years. Seems pretty tame. And we could just sell him if we don’t want to pay it. Even if we are relegated and have to loan him and pay half his wages that’s a liability of 5 million across the last two years of his contract. Is it because he inflates our wage bill? And the demands from Existing players? I can’t see any other reason.

A Wispa bar and can of Fanta might as well have been £145k a week at Thurleston High School in the late 80s….
