I would say that’s likely to be the case.
However, that would be dependent on him playing well and therefore the likelihood of us staying up. If we see it this way then it won’t be so upsetting when he leaves in a year.

Players have every right to hand in a transfer request. For me, as long as they continue to train and be available to play in the interim it isn't crappy or unprofessional at all.
Dare I say, this is probably encouraged, or at least not discouraged, by us to try and lower the price.

I've just resigned from one of my jobs. I can do that. Footballers can't, but they aren't slaves and are totally allowed to request a transfer. I understand this has implications for their bonus payments should a transfer take place, so it's a grown up decision and all workers are allowed to have a level of decision over their future. |  |

Yeah, no problem for me for a player to officially hand in a transfer request. The player losses out financially if they hand in a request. The knobhead move is to go on strike, or feint injury forcing a clubs hand, without being true about their intentions, to also gain much more financially from the move. |  | | |

Whilst Leverkusen negotiations may be paused. I presume we are keeping in touch with the players agent and keeping up our interest which is why the player maybe doing what we can to assist a move so its affordable for Town to come back in and bid.

Not sure players really officially 'hand in' transfer requests anymore. Seems more an out-of-date cliche to mean the player (or his agent) has indicated to his club that he's open to moving, which isn't anything that hasn't been reported over the last few days anyway, plus it's hard to know with the EADT these days whether they're just late to get to something that others have already been across.
If this is to get done you'd suspect there needs to be a fair bit of pushing from the player's side anyway to make Leverkusen accept a lower offer than they're currently entertaining. May be one we have to sit and leave for now then push hard at again late on in the window. |  |

Like someone else said, a transfer request usually means the player will be sacrificing money on the move. In turn this should give Leverkusen a bit more wiggle room on the fee.

I dont want to be a sceptic on this but allowing ITFC to do the price fee discovery work then make an offer seems a bit convenient for his team. That said, if there really isnt other interested parties (why?) but we could be a good place to share minutes across several midfielders. Imagine to s-housing we could be elite level with Furlong on the wind up and Palacios and Enciso. How majestic would that be to score an away goal and break teams mentially 😂 | |
