The "delaying ambulances" criticism has been levelled at Extinction Rebellion protests, which have caused delays to transport infrastructure. The big differences here are:
1) people are publishing the home addresses of RNLI crew members and other volunteers online
2) the Extinction Rebellion actions were avowedly peaceful, and they did not resist arrest (beyond time wasting tactics) or act with aggression towards the Police or bystanders
3) ER protestors don't cover their faces, and wait for arrest and prosecution because they want their day in court.
4) the Patriots probably want a physical confrontation, ultimately, when they have sufficient numbers present. Some of their members have already used violence against Police.
Ah, I missed this yes agreed. The comparison between the two seem tenuous. Even where emergency vehicles couldn’t get through in the environment protests, they can be re-routed. It’s obviously not ideal, but in no way the same as shutting down the whole local service or threatening the staff.

It's worse than tenuous. The extinction rebellion or just stop oil protests were not specifically designed to stop emergency services! It was just an unfortunate side effect, and as you mentioned it may have delayed, but wouldnt have completely disabled them.
Any comparison is complete and utter whataboutery.

What is the purpose of you posting this? The reason they have closed seems quite clear, if you look up the RNLI statement in full you would see that the section of the statement you have picked up on to suggest some reasonable doubt about the cause for the closure would seem to have been included to reassure people that lifeboat stations do go off-service from time to time, and that contingency plans are in place to ensure search and rescue cover is still provided in the area:
“Portsmouth lifeboat station has been temporarily off-service since 10 September. We hope to have the lifeboat station back on service as soon as possible.” "Search and rescue cover continues to be provided through established contingency arrangements, including flank RNLI stations and other declared assets. “At times, it is not unusual for lifeboat stations around the UK and Ireland to be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance or other operational requirements. “In such circumstances, established contingency arrangements are put in place to ensure continued search and rescue cover.”
Given the doxxing and threats to life boat crews at this station were very real, and a lifeboat station being fully out of service is an unusual step, particularly for this length of time, the inference that these are connected is reasonable. So while I can see the statement does leave some ambiguity, I would go back to my first question, what is the purpose of your post? Are you this much of a stickler for accurate reporting at all times or just when it paints the far right in a negative light?
again if that was the case the rnli would state it. if the journalist had evidence that that was the case the journalist would state it. the journalist is instead hoping that readers will infer something that they can't evidence. the journalist is hoping that their article will be reposted on social media with a spin which they can't themselves justify.
the reason for posting is that in an age of online rumour and misinformation we should check that what we are stating is true and proven. inferring stuff because it fits our pre-existing world view is dangerous. if someone you disagreed with did it you would call it out. you should hold yourself to those same standards.

people demonstrating against the rnli are disgraceful morons. the rnli helps people in need, saves lives at sea, and has nothing to do with politics or immigration policy. anyone who demonstrates against the rnli is an unpleasant half wit.
BUT the article doesn't actually say what you claim. it says the station closed after demonstrations, it doesn't say it closed because of demonstrations. it is stating two things knowing that an implied causation will be assumed. the only statement from the rnli about why the station is temporarily closed is:
“At times, it is not unusual for lifeboat stations around the UK and Ireland to be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance or other operational requirements."
in terms of what is written in the article there is nothing more to establish the reason for the temporary closure.
Ah, I was wondering what the most feebly centrist take on this would be.
I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

i'm sorry. the site would be so much better if we all just said the same thing and just competed to see who could say it in the most extreme way.

As Vappers said, its what he does.
Without fail on duty to 'correct the record' if there is any hint that left leaning posters might be wrong, yet oddly absent to correct right leaning posters.
“Correct the record”? When is the enemy of the shift key going to start that exactly?

Are you saying that the closure is unrelated to the "protests" and that the story is deliberately misleading? It's covered by several outlets. All legacy media mind, so probably all made up.

i'm saying that none of the coverage has stated as evidenced fact causation running form the demonstrations to the temporary closure. people are assuming that causation, for whatever reason, but neither the press coverage or the rnli has stated it.

I think you get plenty of unnecessary sh1t, but in this case, what other explanation for the closure can there be? If there was something else at root, wouldn't they say so?
Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

all the rnli has said about the reason for closure is:
“At times, it is not unusual for lifeboat stations around the UK and Ireland to be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance or other operational requirements."
don't you think if they had closed it because of the intimidation of their volunteers they would say so explicitly - it would be relevant to the police and government and public opinion in ensuring taht their volunteers had sufficient protection to save lives. why if that was the reason would they not say it?
i don't know what the truth is but it is legitimate to point out when people make assumptions which are not stated in an article. again, if the journalist had evidence of causation they would surely say so - it would make the story much stronger.

You're omitting what the spokesperson said about staff abuse etc, which seemed like a vital detail of the story. It would be odd so say all of that having been asked why you had closed when the reason was because the boiler was broken.

And this doesn't prove anything either.
Jacqui Irons, the head of the south-east region of the RNLI, said: “Portsmouth lifeboat station has been temporarily off-service since 7 September. We have a duty of care to our people. We therefore took the decision to pause activity at the station to review crew safety and wellbeing, and to support those involved in the incident on 6 September.”

yes there were moronic demonstrations and inexcusable abuse of staff. if that had forced them to close an essential life saving service then why would they not say that? and say it clearly and loudly. why only reference maintenance? i don't know any more than the linked article - but the careful avoidance of saying A caused B suggests to me that the journalist has no evidence that A caused B.
anyway we're going round in circles now. maybe the rnli will come out and say more and my caution will be proven nonsense.

that seems to be a clear statement of the reason for the closure. it was a response to the demonstration. i'm very content with that.

The posted article is missing context the spokesperson said before the quote about maintenance:

It was always pretty clear this was the case but you spent the day playing semantics to get at the lefties.

My wife ran the London Marathon to raise money for the RNLI last year. A friend of hers kindly agreed to have a collection box in her hairdressing salon for voluntary contributions. I was shocked to learn that some of her clients actually made a point of saying they wouldn't donate 'because they save immigrants'. I suspect they were Daily Mail readers...
Hmm, I don't suppose they'd throught through that the RNLI also go out and rescue kids on lilo's, people who get caught out on tides , fishermen............

yes, the posted article omitted that quote. without it the story was seriously incomplete. with it all my concerns are resolved.
no, i haven't been getting at the lefties. i've been questioning evidence and showing assumptions. it's what modernity has involved for several hundred years. i guess you're always going to frame things as for my side or against my side, which is fine, but that's not what approaching things critically is really about.

So it could be because someone left a pint of milk in the fridge and went on holiday. That could be a health hazard now and a threat to crew safety and wellbeing.
