Well, who'd have thunked it?

Please note: prior to hitting the post button, I've double checked for anything that could be construed as "Anti Semitic" and to the best of my knowledge it isn't. Anything deemed to be of a Xenophobic nature is therefore purely accidental or down to your own misconstruing.

The problem with "taking back control" is the "dealing with reality" that's involved.

And it's a problem our government seems to have in every single area, never mind Brexit and the EU.

Good times.

Oh they are. I heard some wanger on the radio phone in earlier today complaining that the French aren't patrolling the Channel and this is all the EU's fault for not protecting our borders. Clearly he didn't grasp the irony.

Oops, slightly misread your post, but point about them unable to take any responsibility stands.

They are converts to the good cause.

But tbh I'm still not sure how anyone changed their mind over the 'would you rather eat sh1t or chocolate' debate. And I say that as someone who doesn't like chocolate very much.

The hardcore Brexiteers are mainly gone from here. Presumably the pound to rouble conversion rate has plunged.

Won't somebody think of the racists who are being held to account for wishing death on 2,000 refugees!?

I'm not sure who I hold in greater contempt. Those who have 'changed their minds' having caused the problem in the first places, or those too stupid to even change their minds.

Perhaps contempt for the former, pity for the latter?

and who would have thought the EU would negotiate softly?

It's a negotiation, of course there will be posturing.

The MP for Calais was on R4 this weekend giving soft support for those getting into boats to cross the channel.

Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me. Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing. Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial. Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid. Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

Asylum seekers have the right to seek asylum in any country they see fit, as per international law.

You do realise the difference between economic migrants and asylum seekers, don't you?

Therein lies the problem.
How can you determine one from t'other?

It is in the interest of the economic migrant to fake stories to the detriment of the genuine asylum seeker.

We are caught between a rock and a hard place.

P.S I am 100% in support of welcoming a reasonable number of genuine asylum seekers.

Well, for a start economic migrants would need to be granted access to the EU first. As far as I'm aware, Sudan and Syria are not yet members.

I think those who voted for Brexit don't want to be swarmed all over and insulted.

Some of us are happy to stand tall but I think many find it rather low brow.
