What would it take for a PRP protest? 09:25 - Nov 10 with 2171 viewsBluefish

When we can leave home again and mix in numbers greater than 6 (not that it would have changed the bedsheet Rich protests about Super Jim). What will it take for a protest at Shambert? We don't even need to be allowed in, w reasonable number waiting at the entrance should do the trick. Did our supporters get too invested in PRP to now make amends?

We'd need to drop out of the top 6 for a start, the next 3 home games will go someway to seeing where we are amongst our competitors this season

How could we protest against a manager who is currently second in the league?

Would seem a little odd IMO.

Not Lamberts biggest fan, but currently he is very very far away from getting the sack, and rightly so.

It was too late through the majority of last season from mid-December onwards....but each time he gets another chance, he has to be allowed to fail again.

He has been given this season, we are second and going along at 2ppg. He's under pressure to continue that form because you'd presume he is on a very short leash.

If we fail to beat both Charlton and Hull at home and slide out of the top 6 then he will be walking the tightrope - ultimately Plan A is that he gets us up, because the concern is that ME waits too long when things are going wrong and gives new man too steep a hill to climb.

But whilst we are there or thereabouts, and remember we are 2nd, he's going nowhere

2 questions....

Do you honestly believe that he will take us up this season?

Do you think not going up this season with the wage cap restrictions will make it much much harder for us?

3rd question....

Why wait?

No.

Yes.

I'm not in charge.

Here's one for you though - if the owner has given him this season to get it right at what point do you think he will admit it has failed? i.e. where do we need to be in the league and when for PL to be doing acceptable job

Heard that soooooo many times last season too

No one with any sanity believes that PRP is the right man and capable of taking us up. "Improved performances" and "play off form" are the embarrassing things here. No other club in the land would have kept the fraud on this long

The problem with the play offs and often the misleading way of games in hand means it is always really hard to decide when it is time. Realistically even PRP won't take us below mid table so it will be another slow death while everyone shouts me down and then we start again next season to give him another go. It will take protests to change it

If Lambert goes and a new manager comes in, I think people are going to be surprised that we still won't walk the league and very little will change unless they have a magic wand that can turn our injury prone, mistake laden, squad into something that can get promoted with ease... which they wont.

Most managers would get this squad top 3. All apart from PRP would make top 10

Our final league position last season and our current form reflects our position perfectly in this league. You are massively over rating the players we have here, the same players who sunk like a stone in the Championship and folded like a stack of cards last season.

They are not that good.

We'll finish 7th.

And Evans has missed the obvious windows, when we slid down the table and out of the top 6 last year, and then when the season concluded on a run of games which saw us pick up 4 points in 9 games.

Our next 8 games are absolutely key - on a ruinous schedule and we play Charlton, Hull, Peterborough, Oxford, Plymouth and Portsmouth in there. If we don't beat the good teams this season we are going to come out of that 8 games with 10 points or so maximum which will see us in a poor position in the table and Evans will have to pull the trigger. If we can get 13-14 games out of that lot then that will be a decent return, if it is 6 or 7 then we are bang in trouble

Agree completely with this. If we come out of this run poorly then we're going to have to change it, the stakes are too high. If we're still relatively comfortably in the top six, though, I'd feel that we can really push on in the second half of the season.

A person can't be sacked for something they haven't done yet, even if you think they might. Neither can you sack them for something done months ago for which you didn't sack them at the time.

You may think it inevitable that Lambert will mess up (and, based on his recent record, that is not an irrational conclusion), but the reality is that the team is currently where it needs to be in the table and he might not.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?
