Seen a lot of Derby fans wanting Paul Cook if they get relegated 19:44 - May 2 with 4752 viewskizaitfc

Surely there is no chance he would move.

Does go to show how well respected he is as a manager though.

???

He was hugely tipped for it last November. The fans wanted him, not suprised to see them look at him again.

Admittedly most see it is highly unlikely he would leave Ipswich now

Relegated or not, no chance he'd leave.

I’d have thought he will get a year here assuming he doesn’t carry on as he has.

I would hope and expect that if ITFC are still a third division team at the end of 2021/22 then Cook will not be here because that would be a bigger failure than any of the last three seasons.

I’ll be delighted to go up next season, but it’s no gimme. Established improvement and playoffs are pretty much essential. I think the new owners have said this as well.

Particularly when you consider that it’s very possible that League One next season could contain Derby, Sheff Weds, Sunderland and Portsmouth.

Going to be interesting.

We need Sunderland to go up.

I'm not convinced Portsmouth will be a threat next season. Cowleys won't necessarily be there and according to one of their top men Fratton Park takes "well into six figures" each season just to maintain. I got the impression from reading their minutes of their AGM that covid has hit them pretty hard. I don't know anything concrete and I may be wrong but I could see them selling 1-2 of their better players to replenish funds and pay for the stadium upkeep.

Why is it that Sunderland and Portsmouth are always the teams we need to worry about while Wycombe, Rotherham, Luton, Coventry, Lincoln, Hull and Peterborough are the ones that get promoted?

There is one team that we really need to worry about and that is ITFC. The others are at this level (like us) because they are performing at this level. We need to be good enough to finish above the Oxfords, Accringtons and Wycombes as well as the supposed big guns.

That’s a fair point.

However, if we’re using the logic that anything less than promotion is a failure given our budget then it’s reasonable to point out that there could be half a dozen teams with comparable resources.

Not sure that the new owners would be too happy if their new toy was still a third division club in August 2022.

If we do not go up next season with everything that is being thrown at it then maybe Paul Lambert was not so bad after all.

We should have gone up last season, we should have gone up this season, we must go up next season.

Because unlike what Cook says and a lot of people now seem to believe I think that we had a squad of players for both seasons that should have got us promoted.

Because it is about how those resources are used. We should be using our superior resources to run a club that will win this league. Yes, Sunderland should be too. However, they aren't. Instead, clubs like Hull, Peterborough and Wycombe are. We need to worry about using our resources effectively to finish above whichever teams are using their resources effectively.

If our club is run as well as Wycombe have been we would not be at this level.

We dont know what is being thrown at it yet

All we have seen so far is a structure being set up ( which you dont need to much of in league 1 anyway)

But weve yet to see what sort of player we are signing. We still still dont know who is even left from current squad

So until then. No one can knows what is being thrown at it.

The words of the owners was promotion to championship next season or the season after.

I think the minimum is seeing progression and for me we need to be on the top 6 come december.
