Who agrees with Mick Mills …..
That if not all then the majority of today’s team should be back out on the pitch together, on Tuesday night , against West Ham for vital jell / familiarity time as well as in some cases fitness.says that training ground scenarios are good enough at this moment in time .
They need game time together as often as possible, he really had strong views on this .

Posted a while ago that we should play the youth team and spend more time training but a former player saying that is very interesting.

I wouldn't be opposed but this is the banter era so someone is getting a season ending injury...

Fook Tuesday, I’d have them in for training 7am Sunday morning. And run them for twelve hours.

2 weeks of training didn't do much good.

Play a strong team, we need a win.

Feck the injury risk.

Yes, that entire back 5 is what we would likely all deem the strongest.

They all need to play again on Tuesday, simple as that.

I didn't hear Mills' comments - but I more or less feel the same.

If Cook has any chance of getting these players confidence... by wkj 11 Sep 2021 17:47
He has to field the strongest squad he has against West Ham U21 on Tuesday. I did express concern that we didn't find that winning mentality in preseason, and it is turning out we're not finding it in the league.

West Ham U21 has to be treated like a team building event now and for these players to come out and play to the best of their ability against a side who, on paper, are the least likely to punish us.

Other than that - Cook is doing little to inspire confidence. I said at the end of last season I woulnd't be willing to give Cook a free ride this year, but I humoured him all the same. Today was not a game of individual errors - it was a sign chaotic and sh** coaching.

Cook could very well prove us all wrong, but he doesn't deserve to avoid getting pelters any more.

If it's a lack of effort and desire that's causing this I'd agree, but do you think it is? The set up of the side and the coaching appears to be the main culprit to me.

No that’s not a good way to view things. Mills is 100% right

He absolutely must play his strongest team. Just as likely to have injuries in training as in the game so that argument doesn’t fly with me.

It was a huge mistake not going strong v Newport.

If he doesn’t play 1st team players on Tuesday and get a morale boosting win Paul Cook can sod off quicky

I agree. Most of those players have shown they're better than they were today - this is not a player issue. This is a man management/coaching issue.

Correct I have said since the first two games , I wonder if he can do this without Liam Richardson by his side , helping put the jigsaw together on the pitch …… I stand by that and say he is lost without him !

I said Cook cant complain about time to gel and then not utilise these cup games to do so.

He missed the chance against Northampton which we then managed to lose anyway, no excuses for doing the same on Tuesday.

Again, the usuals on here gave me stick for pointing this out but I note they're coming round to realising I was right albeit far too late.

Mick Mills speaks good sense the majority of the time.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

I don't see many people countering what you're saying to be honest. You can't knock people for having blind optimism at the start of a season. I would say we're at just the right amount of games for the season to have a clear view of how much faith we have in Cook.

Agree 100% but Morsy and Celina, (if possible), need minutes.

I would say not. I would play my strongest eleven. I hope that lot today weren't that.

Of course he should play his preferred team Tuesday - if he knows what it is. It’s a no brainier.

I’d say there’s a rampant complacency in our squad which needs to be drummed out of them ASAP

I'm not sure knackering them out with a monumental revenge beasting session when they haven't had time to recover from the game is going to improve matters on the pitch. The only result would be a bunch of injuries and a squad about as well motivated as the latter days of Keane (think Walters).

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

We said exactly that at the game today.

Play our strongest side on Tuesday to a) try and get a positive result and b) get more minutes on the pitch together.

This shouldn't be an important game, but right now it is, I'd be tempted to put the same side out there again, give them the chance to put it right...

I honestly don't think it will matter much until Morsy is in the team. This formation badly needs at least one destroyer in there.

Rekeem Harper and Lee Evans have left a lot to be desired defensively so far, I don't know if Cook thought Rekeem would be stronger than he is or that we'd have more of the ball so it wouldn't matter too much. As it stands we literally have no protection anywhere in midfield.

Mick seemed to think that it was poor individual performances that were the problem.

Sure, not many played all that well beyond Bonne, Burns and Aluko but thought the real problem was the shape/balance of the team.

We could put out the same team against West Ham U21s and have enough about us to overpower them. But I think the answer for our league campaign is about getting a lot tighter and more solid first.

TLDR: Give someone else a game or use it to test a different approach.

It'd be nice to take one game seriously wouldn't it. I don't care if it's a christmas special against the club staff, we need a win from somewhere.
