Hs work at Burnley goes under the radar. He built a really decent side there which Dyche ultimately got promoted the following season. He signed Ings, Mee, Trippier, Vokes, Shackell, Stanislas. [Post edited 8 Nov 2021 16:03]

Howe-way the Lads! on 16:31 - Nov 8 with 1117 views | Vaughan8 | I don't mind Eddie Howe but he gets a lot of praise for taking Bournemouth through the division on a very high budget! Yes he kept them in the premier league a few season which was good but eventually got found out. I'm sure there are enough mercenaries to join newcastle for the money but I can't see many thinking "yeah I've always wanted to play for Eddie Howe"....... I suppose its stepping stones like Man CIty at the start.

I'm happy to take that bet. I think he will be there at least this and next season. Will be pushed aside when they are ready for the next level of spending.

I don't know how many years he's got on his contract, but if we get promoted and there's a way to get him here... (A guy can dream. I suspect we'll never know what players we might attract in summer 2022 as a championship club...)

If he keeps them up this season he'll be a big spender. The pressure will be on him, if he starts poorly I can see the owners panicking and sacking him.

They were always going to spend in January, regardless of who was in charge. I predict mid table finish this season, top 7 next. They will then go for a top continental boss and Howe will take over as England manager.

It's going to be a struggle for them even to stay up. The defence is toilet, and despite Howe's other qualities, he didn't exactly prioritise defending at Bournemouth. They'll need to spend big on a CB and RB and pray Wilson and Saint Maximin stay fit.

They will spend close to £100m in January to stay in Prem. Howe will get at least one new forward, two in midfield and two at the back. He will stick with an attacking style which the Newcastle fans will love. The teams around them won't spend anything through fear of relegation. Think they will easily survive this season and then build on that in the summer. Howe will be allowed to lay the foundation and given the cash to do it.

Howe won't be ripping the squad apart, just minor surgery.

I wonder if he would take Mings back to Newcastle, I suppose he probably sold him to Villa so won't necessarily be a huge fan What happened with Howe and Fraser? Newcastle need to be shopping in a similar place to Wolves, I just wonder if they can prise players who can step up with his side potentially Players like Zaha, who are almost top level but still have a point to prove?

Lingard, Ward-Prowse and players of that standard. Howe will probably shop in Prem & Championship. Think quality mid table type players.

Yep I think that's about it. Their targets will be a mix of cast offs from the big clubs who they might need to get in on loan (Alli, Barkley, Lingard etc) and top players from bottom half clubs (Tarkowski, Zaha, Ward Prowse) I wonder if a reunion with Nathan Ake could be on the cards for Howe? They need a defender and he's not playing regularly for Man City.

Fraser downed tools post-lockdown and refused to extend his contract by a month to play in the relegation battle in case he got injured.
