If we don't sign anyone today. 13:40 - Jan 31 with 2577 views | OwainG1992 | How would you feel? On the back of the outgoings. I'm generally positive with the way the club is going but with Fraser being cashed in on and I want to see someone incoming today. The boy Matete would be ideal in my opinion. Not least the fact I see him being worth a fair bit in a couple years time.

If we don't sign anyone today. on 13:44 - Jan 31 with 1894 views | FrankMarshall | I'd like to see Matete too, but if we don't replace players it'll be good for the youngsters. Many of our U21 squad have little chance of breaking into the main team. There are a few players there who deserve a chance.

Need to work with what we have and trust McKenna, not bloat out the squad which has happened season after season in recent years.

Our midfield would still be Morsy, Evans, Carroll, Bakinson, El Mizouni and Harper before you reach the kids. That’s a lot of traffic for (currently) 2 spaces in the team for the likes of Humphreys to get past.

Spot on! Squad was way too large. There won't be any incomings I would think. McKenna will work with what he has and that's fine with me. He'll have a good idea in summer of what we need and there will be less deadwood and squad upheaval at that point. A few players on the fringes that remain who must have encouragement to work hard and feel they can become part of first team match day squad now. I'm quite happy with how things have panned out.

If we don't sign anyone today. on 13:56 - Jan 31 with 1768 views | clive_baker | Fine. Those departing have hardly had a kick in earnest, it won't make any difference to our season. It's not like we're losing anyone who would likely contribute over the next few months. Keep our powder dry, have a right good go at getting in the top 6 and failing that, get the cheque book out in the summer.

If we don't sign anyone today. on 13:56 - Jan 31 with 1760 views | wkj | I really want to see a CB come in. For the most part, Edmundson is a solid defender - though he seems more prone to mistakes under Kenna's football - if he, donacien or woolfenden get injured - we're down ot Burgess and possibly Baggott. So, not an outright emergency, but still feels a bit tight. I would like to start seeing Baggott appearing on the bench though - surely he's at a point where he's ready to taste senior footie. The big question is what will happen with Pigott today, or the end of the season. As it stands Bonne, Jackson and Norwood are all set to leave at the end of the season and Pigott hardly seems like he's going to be the go to striker when that happens. If we don't sign anyone today. on 13:58 - Jan 31 with 1736 views | Rozz | Today in a nutshell: Nolan - Out of contract and not able to contribute. I assume very little will change and due to duty of care he'll still be using facilities, just able to join a new club in the meantime should he find one. Best for all. Fraser - Useful, liked him, but hasn't worked out and generally pleased to recoup our losses there. I fear both Fraser and Nolan will go on to be good L1 players for someone else in the right systems. Coulson - A bit disappointed here but don't know his injury situation. Thompson has higher pedigree I guess. Hard to get too upset trading loan for loan. Penney OK backup. Clements - Great experience in L2, will follow with interest. Simpson - WTF has gone on there. Could have gone on to finish a great season with Swindon, which is the shame more than anything. Likely to sit in U23's with the hump for rest of season. I'd like to see Harper go out on loan. He's got all the trademarks of a high value sell-on if he can establish himself. That's the Ashton model. Agree I'd like someone in Morsy mold, but I do think El Miz could do that role with more coaching. Feel he was betrayed by the system a bit on Sat, and marshalled well by Bannan. Don't think we'll sign anyone today, FWIW. [Post edited 31 Jan 2022 13:59]

If we don't sign anyone today. on 14:00 - Jan 31 with 1676 views | JDB23 | Tbh this season is pretty much over and has been for a while. Let KMcK assess the squad over the next couple of months and go into the Summer with a proper recruitment policy. No need to saturate us even more now.

Yes. Don't expect the town management to be leaving at 5pm today. It may be due to more loans/transfers out though.

If we don't sign anyone today. on 14:04 - Jan 31 with 1610 views | jayessess | Good, yeah. The rest of our season is going to be determined by the tune we get out of the existing squad above all. Walton on a permanent was massive, Bonne staying the course good. Bakinson and Thompson strengthen us (although how much we'll have to wait and see I think). We've reduced some of the squad bloat, so it'll be an easier squad for McKenna to work with. Matete isn't needed per se. It's just a question on how good we think he can become and whether there's an opportunity cost to waiting on him. IMO not likely to happen.

Jenny on the top of Franciscan towers with her binoculars again! Pretty windy today, so have to admire her guile.

If we don't sign anyone today. on 14:23 - Jan 31 with 1436 views | Parky | The only questionable piece of business for me, is selling Fraser (especially if we don’t replace him). With Morsy out, Evans injured, that leaves us with Carroll, Bakinson, Harper and El Mizouni, all of whom I think Fraser is better than. I would’ve liked to have seen him play under McKenna.
If we don't sign anyone today. on 15:02 - Jan 31 with 1325 views | BonneNIL | Matete is bang average. We will need better if we are to go up, just another wage on the books without any real benefit again. This shows you just how wrong we got it in the summer and we've reverted back to type. We're a merry-go-round club, churning out managers and players without absolutely no real structure or plan going forward. Really poor from Gamechanger/Ashton so far, it's just Evans all over again. We'll clap our way to another relegation soon enough, this is the new Ipswich Way.

If we don't sign anyone today. on 16:01 - Jan 31 with 1140 views | Bobbychase | Squad is fine without any incomings. Once Morsy is back we still have him, Evans, Edwards, Celina, Burns, Bakinson, Aluko, Bonne, Norwood and Piggott as midfield and forward options and Dom Thompson covers the left-side issue. BUT if there was the chance to pick up someone like Matete, who is out of contract in the summer, for a decent fee then it would be a great move. We'd be signing someone for future seasons not just this one. Having ended the loans of Barrie and Coulson, signed Walton and got quite a few of our own out on loan; if we brought in someone eye-catching on loan from either Spurs or Man Utd it might make the rest of the season go with a bang so no objection to that either.

He gave Morsy a torrid time until Morsy took him out of the game by getting in his face. A good player but not better than what we have. Need to be aiming higher.
