I was at the game last week at the Etihad. The right back booted Grealish about 6 times and he was only on for about 10 minutes. Kept trying to pinch him and pull his hair too. Was bloody hilarious tbh.
See that UEFA chickened out on their decision to close part of the stadium for home fans. Cited possible crowd trouble due to a sellout crowd. Did they still have to show the "Say No To Racism" banner?
If football wants to condemn what they do and what they did tonight, then it should condemn itself.
I also don't necessarily blame Savic for having a go at Foden for the 17 rolls he performed when the guy followed through on him (deserved second yellow by the way). The headbutt is something else though.
Yes Athletico are dirty but the media like to exaggerate it. And English teams are no saints, we see diving and time wasting in the Prem on a weekly basis
I enjoyed the game. One of the more entertaining 0-0 games I’ve seen.
Chances, drama, red card, electric atmosphere, scuffles.
You may not like Simeone, but I admire him. Atletico had finished 7th & 9th in the seasons prior to him joining - he has taken them from that to a genuine top European side.
2 La Liga titles, 2 Copa Del Reys, 1 Spanish Cup, 1 Spanish Super Cup, 2 Europa League Cups, 2 Champions League finals, 2 UEFA Supercup Winners.
The man has transformed that football club, what he’s done there is nothing short of phenomenal.

I admire his win at all costs mentality and the passion his personality has on both players and fans alike. He has transformed that club and has turned them into a major European club.
Think it's interesting that the teams that habitually engage in the most gamesmanship are also the ones that have the worst temper tantrums when they're on the receiving end.
I watched the last 20-25 minutes, and the commentators were moaning about the disgraceful scenes etc that no-one wants to see.
Wrong. It's exactly what we want to see as a neutral, it was brilliant to watch.
The funny thing was, Atletico's antics were wasting their own time.... the one who started the riot either didn't see or care about the cycnical kick on Foden as he fell over the touchline after being bundled over.

If you can get the other team to lose their composure they start giving away cheap free kicks and making poor decisions. They end up doing most of the time wasting for you.
Quite a few opposition teams have done this quite well against us (one of many reasons why getting bent out of shape over time wasting isn't a great idea).

"I admire his win at all costs mentality".
I don't. SBR transformed our club and turned us into a major European club with his signings of players & their footballing skills, not with dirty play & time-wasting. It's the former that attracted me to ITFC, not the latter.

Agree. In terms of success, Simeone has over-achieved with a club with a relatively small playing budget. And apparently many of the La Liga teams play like that, especially against superior teams. The Portuguese league is also full of cynical play & time wasting. I wouldn't want to watch that. The same goes for Town if they felt that was the way to achieve success. Football has to about entertainment, not just winning.

Football is about entertainment but I could easily sacrifice sportsmanship in order to actually win something.

Sometimes it's not just what you do, but the way that you do it though.
Winning by cheating, timewasting & WWW Bolton style wouldn't sit comfortably with me (albeit I'd probably consider 'just giving a bit back' acceptable, depending on the circumstances!).
For a team who fairly obviously wanted to leave it later before going on the attack they only really messed up their own gameplan. Also, lets be consistent, if a foreign player got clipped and rolled over as many time as Foden like they were dying they would be widely condemned.
