Genuine question: Is there anyone out there who would rather have… 23:42 - Apr 28 with 4185 views | Matt_Netherlands | Another year of potential promotion based excitement in league one, rather than a lower-mid table championship finish? I was thinking about championship teams like Preston, QPR and Hull earlier and thinking they rarely have anything to celebrate, much like we did for the doldrum years. I’m as excited about anyone at the possibility of being back in the championship. If that happens though and we do end up having a year or even a few years of mid table mediocrity, I hope we all still see that as significant progress in where we’ve been, and the feel good factor we all have right now, stays with us! For the tape: I’d take 20th in the championship next season over 1st in league one.

Genuine question: Is there anyone out there who would rather have… on 23:44 - Apr 28 with 3353 views | Dubtractor | For me it's not about what happens next season, it's about the joy of the moment of getting promoted, that brief blast of 'f@ck yeah' as we finally have something to shout about. So yeah, to answer the question, promotion every single day of the week, even if we end up bottom next year (which we won't). [Post edited 28 Apr 2023 23:49]

Genuinely think with the momentum we could challenge for the play-offs in the Championship next season anyway, but would be happy with a top 10 finish. And we definitely won’t be in it for 17 seasons again, and it won’t be by coming down again…!

If we can get the job done, I think we will be in a position to make a stronger run at top end of the division than say Sunderland have and let’s face it, they’ve done well with a young side. We have a good base, team wise, and the club is organised and moving forwards in other areas too. I’ve seen nothing in the Championship games I’ve watched to frighten us. So let’s, if we can, get out of this swamp of a league right now and aim for top six next season.

The league above isn't that good compared to past seasons and we have an opportunity to make a crack at the play offs or maybe more if we make good additions and players like Woolf continue to improve.

Genuine question: Is there anyone out there who would rather have… on 04:43 - Apr 29 with 2994 views | Zapers | If we get promoted, and we won't know until late afternoon, early morning for me, these owners are not about to accept mediocrity. I suspect that investment will continue, and the club will not be encouraged to aim for mid table in the championship. Exciting times for the club, I'm not surprised that many supporters still fear that we shall be allowed to struggle, we have all experienced that for many years. Thank goodness the Evans period, and that before, is now history. I strongly suspect that promotion to the premiership is expected, and anything less will be considered failure.
Genuine question: Is there anyone out there who would rather have… on 06:09 - Apr 29 with 2898 views | tractordownsouth | Nah, I don’t see any reason not to want promotion in any case, let alone this one. We’ve been down here too long, it’s no longer a novelty. I don’t think we’ll be competing for promotion in the Championship but we’ll be competitive and we have owners who will give it a good go. It won’t be anything like the managed decline of the Evans years.

Genuine question: Is there anyone out there who would rather have… on 07:15 - Apr 29 with 2711 views | Herbivore | I'm totally over League 1. It's a rubbish league, the refs are terrible and most of the teams aren't interested in playing a game of football (can't blame them but it's not fun to watch). The Championship looks weak at the moment, imo, and I fancy us to do well next season. That said, I'd take a season of consolidation but I am quietly confident we'll do better than just consolidate next year.

Agreed on the quality of the championship not being what it has been in previous years. Could he some pretty big clubs coming down onto it, but bejng a big club doesn’t guarantee you success - like we’ve seen in league one!
Genuine question: Is there anyone out there who would rather have… on 07:47 - Apr 29 with 2536 views | Wakh | Yes me. I love watching teams with 10 men standing in some long grass hoping to stop us scoring then jumping around frantically in celebration that the mower wasn't removed from the corner of the shed. Refs with an everyone's a winner - it's the taking part that counts attitude. Seeing 4 Fleetwood fans and their mum fill our away end and having other team's resentful fans bemoaning the fact we spent slightly more on a team than most premiership players do on tooth whitening. I love it and hope will miss out promotion as i really want to do it all again.

I understand that hypothesis on 08:00 - Apr 29 with 2462 views | Dyland | It's flawed though, cos in reality all the excitement of our ridiculous current run will be wiped out if we aren't promoted. It will be ridiculously gutting now we are in this position. Ridiculous stuff innit Nethers :) As others have said, I don't see this lot resting on their laurels if we get promoted, and can see us challenging in the Championship for top six. A lot of ifs and buts there of course. COYFB

Genuine question: Is there anyone out there who would rather have… on 09:24 - Apr 29 with 2156 views | BigCommon | When you look at this year's Championship, teams all the way down to 12th have been in with a decent play off shout, untill very recently. I think we'd be comfortably mid table. Without any improvement. But with the "no stone unturned" attitude in the Summer window and the January window. Im fully expecting us to at least challenge for a play off spot... That might sound unrealistic to the non believers. But the quality of the opposition weve played and basically blitzed, over the last couple of months, is testament to how good a team we are. And how good our entire set up is. We should absolutely hold no fear, should we go up. It's highly unlikely we'd be tracking 100pts and 100 goals in the Champs. But we won't need to, in order to compete and be in with a shout until the very end of the season. In that respect, imo, it would be a very exciting season in the Championship. And not stale , mid/lower table nothingness...(See Sumderland) Totally get the OP. Seasons past have left scars..But I personally pressed the reset button when GC came in. It's a new era, a rebirth. Don't let the past drag you down..Look forward with optimism... It's not a false dawn, this time. Promises are being kept by those that are pulling the strings. At some point, well reach a level , where progress might slow down. Imo, mid/lower table mediocrity in The Championship, won't be that level under the current regime. Let's get the job done today. Soak it up if it happens. It's a rare thing seeing a Town side winning promotion.
