All these clubs having their pitch invasion and celebrating with the players 22:57 - May 18 with 16015 viewsThe_Romford_Blue

Pisses me off even more that the whinging on here and twitter from our fans stopped most of us going on and having our moment.

Only in Ipswich ffs

Your club told you not to do it.
Show them some respect, this season after all.

Are we really going to get people still crying about this every time another team has a pitch invasion?

Get over it.

Slightly different but yeah..... No1 stopped you going on. Didn't you see all those other d!ckheads on there?

I still find it odd that grown men want to run on the pitch, especially second game of the season when your second but yeah OK, have a moan. Get over it haha

EDIT: I didn't see Sevilla fans run on the pitch tonight.....

And......Luton fans the other evening when over to goad the Sunderland fans......This is why.

I think we were worried they might dock us points after they warned us they'd take it very seriously. If we'd won the league at a canter then we probably would have done one. Bet there will be no repercussions for Wednesday though other than a fine. Double standards.

I agree, but it is what it is. We’ve always been a reserved crowd. Once that meant we didn’t sing much, now it means we don’t sing much and we get nervous about pitch invasions. But that’s us and that’s fine.

It won’t be long before pitch invasions are consigned to history imo. I think we should make the most of them while we still can.

Wetties.

Had people say since that they regret that they didn’t go on, they were silly to take what the club said seriously, they had to be seen to be against it obviously, but from what I hear Ashton wanted it to happen, bet he was even disappointed.

Please give me an example as to when a club was deducted points for a pitch invasion?

The celebrations in the stand at Bolton, Posh, Barnsley, Derby, at home to PV were immense. We did not need to invade the pitch to have some of our best ever memories following Town. Some uf us since the seventies.

Your club decided it did not want a pitch invasion and threatened supporters with sanctions (no post match celebrations, bans). I do not agree with their position, but show them some respect.

Tonight is different though. The emotion of it, penalty shootout after the ups and downs of that game.

Bit different to Exeter at home when the game was won an hour before the final whistle. I don't really like or get these pre planned pitch invasions, should be something spontaneous for me Clive.

I agree Clive, I think the emotion is what makes them what they are. Exeter became a more awkward one because we won the game so long before the final whistle

You've got to admit that it's pretty sh*t on the away players though.

You go through the emotion of the preceding 120mins and a penalty shootout, but the moment that final penalty hits the back of the net your focus has to be on getting off the pitch ASAP, because these days you can never be sure whether it'll be safe to remain on the pitch.

(case in point being the utter d*ckhead who appeared to run onto the pitch with the sole intention of assaulting the linesman this evening)

Agreed, up to the first 5 words. Some of us were worried. That's all there is to it really. And that's fair enough and they shouldn't be criticised. It's a shame we're so timid, but it's also part of our DNA and what makes us a welcoming and family club at the same time.

No “only in Ipswich” is a pitch invasion happening at Portman road and rather than joining in, someone deciding to come on here a month later to moan about it whilst being jealous of a club who have just had one despite not yet being promoted.

I get the point you and Romford etc., are making - because your intentions are non-harmful. The problem is that there's now a minority of idiots who ruin it and mean that we probably shouldn't allow them any more.

If the club says no, we should adhere to their wishes. I’m a total hypocrite of course, having done it and even nabbed a chunk of pitch for my lawn back in the day.
