Whos next in or out of the door next ? on 14:35 - Jul 13 with 6569 views | gordon | Think any of Harness, Jackson, Camara, Evans and Edmundson would be excellent signings for pretty much anyone in League One as long as wages aren't too much of a problem, so I'd imagine we're in no rush to do business and we'll just wait and see who we can bring in.

This...plus we're at the 25 squad limit at the moment (even with the young keeper taking Hayes spot), so boringly I think it'll either be Camara or Pigott out before anyone else comes in.

Those players don't need to go before anyone else comes in - they are already marked in the 'gone' column and will just actually go when an acceptable offer appears.

Clarke is our first choice RB. Did you watch us play last season?

Whos next in or out of the door next ? on 05:24 - Jul 14 with 5458 views | PioneerBlue | If we were to ship Edmundson wouldn’t we need two CDfers? We’d then only have Wolf and Burgess and the consensus seems to be that we need 4 on the books. There is still squad space to bring in 1-2. I would have thought there are a few players we’d like to keep, demonstrate that have games at championship level, then trade in January or next summer. I would say someone like Evans or Jackson next out the door.

Whos next in or out of the door next ? on 06:48 - Jul 14 with 5261 views | LegendofthePhoenix | Shifting anyone will be difficult, as every player will have had a hefty wage increase upon promotion. Assuming that the buyers are L1 teams, our players were already on high wages by L1 standards, and you'd expect that wages have gone up by 50-100% upon promotion. So the players will want to see their contract settled before moving on. Easiest for the players who have less time left on their contract. It's a costly business, promotion.

Whos next in or out of the door next ? on 08:15 - Jul 14 with 5018 views | tractordownsouth | Assuming Edmundson is happy to stay, there's no reason to sell him. If we get another left sided centre-back in, he can compete with Woolfenden on the side where he's most comfortable.

Whos next in or out of the door next ? on 08:28 - Jul 14 with 4952 views | Stewart27 | The same Edmundson who was the first name on our team sheet before his injury just over a year ago? Even last season he had really good patches. Fair play to Burgess for keeping him out. There’s absolutely no need to sell Fridge.
Whos next in or out of the door next ? on 09:46 - Jul 14 with 4693 views | jayessess | Think in general people get a bit gung-ho about players potentially leaving the club. If we decided to move Edmundson on it would be an incredibly complicated bit of work to do. With Keogh leaving we already have a vacancy for a centre back, probably one who'll need to take Burgess' first team place. The budget for that signing is going to be significant - a transfer fee and wages commensurate with a regular Championship starter. Meanwhile Woolfenden is a nailed on starter, so we'd need a second player, someone who doesn't have the expectation that they'll start most weeks. The budget for the signing would reflect that. It's now mid-July, so unless one or other player shows up tomorrow that means we'd be looking at changing half our central defensive unit a long way through pre-season and potentially after the season starts. Oh, and we'd also have to find a good value move for a player we paid a decent wedge for, likely on decent money, who hasn't played a lot of football lately. Tough ask and I think if we were looking to do something like that, more of the work would already be done.

Hopefully if he stays he will be better than the tail end of last season but also need to consider the standard of opposition he's played in these friendlies so far. SB

Whos next in or out of the door next ? on 09:57 - Jul 14 with 4652 views | itfcsuth | Everybody has their price, but I don’t think we’ll be actively looking to move Edmundson - very good player so don’t know why we’d look to sell him. Other than the obvious of Pigott and Camara (loan), would imagine Harness is the most likely.

He was very important off the pitch last year too. I know he had time on his hands but he really embraced the Foundation and community work.

I would say that is a bit unfair. He barely played did he at "the tail end of the season". Came on and scored in the last game. He definitely can be a useful sub. Not sure what epopel are expecting. I can't see us buying loads more players really. TJJ people seem to rave about. Harness is no worse than him in my opinion.

Everyone sees things differently of course but I thought he was pretty poor post-Christmas last season. I'm not expecting anything, it's a hypothetical thread on where we can improve and I think we can improve on Harness. That doesn't mean we will or that he won't do a good job for us in the Championship but I think if you look at the drop-off from Broadhead to Harness it's quite substantial. SB

Oh hes definitely a downgrade on Broadhead, but I don't think we're going to have the luxury of players to chop and change this year too much. Harness started well and got worse then injured, then barely played. I still think he deserves a chance to get back. However, signing aluko again did surprise me considering we are at or near the maximum for the squad so maybe someone like Harness is going to be shipped out. [Post edited 14 Jul 2023 10:33]

He was, he never got back to how he was in the early stages. Seems very much a confidence player, so whether it was down to his injury and struggling to get back to full fitness or never feeling quite on top of his game mentally I'm not sure.
