Indeed, had to scroll through a lot of posts about them being concerned about us and thinking it will be a good game to find that four worded post right at the bottom of the page.

We're a bit like Luton apparently. on 20:49 - Aug 10 with 4139 views | SuperKieranMcKenna | I do feel like some of these fans of other clubs will be in for a shock when they turn up to Portman Road, and ‘little Ipswich’ have a bigger crowd than they get. We’ll be in the top 5 average attendances come the end of the season - would have been too 3 last season (but for the clubs that came down last season). | | | | Login to get fewer ads

.....for me too, pretty much how I felt about our performance last weekend. Also the one about us being technically good, but naïve. Saturday will be a tough one.

but I have to say I thought that we were really out of our depth for much of the first half against Sunland, I also think that our players realised this but have the capability to up their game, I think it was a bit of a wake up but they are good enough to get there. One thing though, if we can keep injury free we have the capability to score a whole lot of goals. We are deadly!

....going forward at times. The speed that we move the ball is beautiful. But we'll concede a few faffing around with it at the back and when Morsy comes up against a CM that's better than him then we'll get over run in midfield and our defence can't handle players running at them particularly well. But I'm quite comfortable with us losing a few, we aren't in the 3rd Division anymore that's what matters really. [Post edited 10 Aug 2023 21:20]

We're a bit like Luton apparently. on 21:34 - Aug 10 with 3686 views | Oldsmoker | "Turnip squatting sister enjoyers" won't stand a chance. Turnips are mainly grown in the north of England and Scotland, so Stoke is more likely to have more Turnip squatters than Suffolk. A bit daft to grow a low value crop in the high quality Suffolk soil. I always asked my girlfriends if they had any younger sisters. Just being polite. Meanwhile, Stoke has the UK's only Monkey Forest. I wonder why it was sited near Stoke?

Didn’t a couple of the players say after the game that the first 20 mins or so were a bit of a culture shock - or words to that effect? Not surprising is it really - it one thing to watch it, and talk about it, but another th8nk to actually go out and play against a team from a higher level. Likewise, we’re bound to be a bit naive to start with. We’ll make mistakes and probably lose some games we shouldn’t. But like you say, I think the players are good enough to learn quickly - likewise the whole management team.

It was also... an away game? We dominated pretty much every game home and away last season, but we'll be doing absolutely brilliantly to be on top in half of them this season.

I think Sunderland was a bit of a strange first half, they were clearly better but they also clearly went to strong and couldn't maintain that press for more than about 35 minutes. Once they slowed down we grew into the game, especially the 20 minutes after half time. Nobody is going to be able to press like Sunderland did for the full 90 minutes this season. SB

They blew themselves out didnt they. After the first 5 minutes I said to my lad that I feared an absolute pumping, but apart from the Bellingham chance they really had very few sights on goal and we grew into the game. I think we’ll learn to handle fast starts away from home
