How did we only just scrape a draw against that shambles of a team. They actually look to have gone backwards since last season.

Huge missed opportunity for us imo but everyone just seemed to have an off day...it happens

The thing is they are not a shambles of a team. They have a manager who, supposedly, despite being a nice enough bloke isn't astute and resourceful enough for this league. He's currently under huge pressure and doesn't appear to have the mettle to deal with it. That's why it's important that Southampton hang on to him for another six weeks.

Same reason the franchise beat them 3-2 at the fag end of last season - huge dollops of luck and missed Southampton opportunities.

Sometimes I think I'm turning into you. Then you post something like this and I realise I have a way to go get.

With every game we grow and improve and you don’t see that with Southampton. Only 10 days ago we saw them as a chance for a point. After Villa, IMO, we have a reset. We will believe the bottom half of the table are all winnable at Portman Road. We will go for a win against everyone, create a few shocks amongst the big boys and take a few scalps away from home. Sunday wasn’t just a point against a very good team, it was a performance that made a statement to us as fans, our team, and everyone playing us in the Premier.

They were actually OK for the first 15 yesterday, and certainly they were good against us. They seem to have zero mental strength though, probably doesn't help that the manager is berating them at every opportunity.

Didn’t realise MK Dons played Soton last season.

First 30 v Man U they were much better and lost 3.0

We had the chances early but failed to take them and got lucky ish in the end!

Think the first goal was very important. Mentally they look lost when they concede.

They of course would have seen Ipswich at Home as there easiest game of the season, so letting that last gasp equaliser in, may have hurt the resolve a little bit too.

I feel the same right now. Proper gee’d up by Sunday’s performance.

But in the back of my mind still cautious that this is the Prem and things can turn against you very quickly. If we can get a win in the next 2 games I’ll really start to believe we can do this.

Spot on. It’s not just about result. We are humble in defeat, never too high, never too low but we are learning with every game. We look very competitive already.
Southampton on the other hand look very much in trouble.

Not sure if I would. We need to start winning games. If we had beaten Fulham and Southampton but lost to Brighton and Villa, we’d be in a better position than we are now, as good as the performances have generally been.

Sorry, inside joke as BlueInBrum offered the "I'd take a draw" last year at one point and I've relentlessly (and tediously) wound him up about it since.

Agree with you.

This is correct. Just as their confidence evaporated lsst night after they went behind againstvthe general run of play, against us the opposite happened. Against the run of play in the opening 5 minutes, they scored with their first attack. Tails up, crowd up and we wobbled for a while. Confidence is fragile at Southampton and goals for or against affect that somewhat disproportionately.

Do you actually know how football works? Doesn’t look like it.

Anyhow, great point for your lot last night. Huge dollops of luck and missed Leeds opportunities if the BBC stats are anything to go by. Still, a better result against them than my team managed. OTBC
