DCL missed two one-on-ones and put a header into the same part of the North Stand as Clarke’s shot.

The first one on one was due to Philips shocking pass back to Woolfy. The header was a cross behind him. Woolfy, I thought handled him well on the whole.

Could have had a couple of goals but ultimately didn’t need them.

I've got to agree. Takes a lot of stick but he looked good for them. Yes he should have had a couple of goals, but the other stuff he did was very beneficial for the team.

My takeaway from the games this year is just how good a lot of the individuals are - I think DCL, Watkins and even Muniz at Fulham have been absolute levels above any forwards we’ve come up against in our time outside of the Prem. Everton get a rough time in this division but felt like their team today had a lot of players who would be absolute stand outs if they played in the Championship. Athleticism, technical quality and know-how just on a different planet. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
If Calvert-Lewin was any good, it would have been 4 or 5…. on 21:51 - Oct 19 with 2619 views | bournemouthblue | Another day he'd have scored a hat-trick I thought he led their line pretty well and held the ball up as well as I have seen any opposition forward do it frankly

Yep, we couldn't handle him at all, luckily he didn't have his shooting boots on.

So, he was their lone striker - why was it always Woolfie that had to go up against him for headers? Did Burgess challenge him once? LW seemed to almost stop trying to win the ball in the air against him by the end. DCL v Greaves would have been an interesting contest.

I honestly thought he was the best non-Haaland striker we’ve come up against this season. His movement was fantastic and his ability to trap the ball under pressure and protect it was excellent.

I think he is a very good striker and probably better than anything the likes of Man U, Chelsea or Spurs have frankly

Agree 100% but he didn't look like he was going to score with either 1 on 1.

Have to give credit to Muric for that sharp movement of a hand to the ground for stopping one of those.

You beat me to it Zombers. I was also going to give Muric some credit for 3 or 4 top saves, most of them from CL. I suppose it doesn't fit the "Muric is cr@p" narrative that pervades a few of the threads around here.

It has been very noticable, especially to me yesterday - just the little touches, the flicks, the way some of the Everton players controlled the ball and moved it around us with ease. There is a world of difference between players who have played at this level for years, and most of our team, unfortunately. Can it be coached into them in the next 7 months? I hope so. If we do stay up, I think we will need to add a couple of £50m+ players next season (if we can attract them in the first place!), and then same the following season, and the season after that - seems to be the only way to build a team capable of competing in this league.

If Calvert-Lewin was any good, it would have been 4 or 5…. on 14:17 - Oct 20 with 1775 views | Facefacts | Some cracking post/comments on here. We need a player like him, we are keeping the No. 9 shirt free for someone in January. Got to drag ourselves up the table somehow so we are an attractive proposition for a player of this quality to join us in January. Fotis X not interested, Broja X his club hiding a long term injury to offload, making us waste a barrowload of time, I'm sure we were in for others too. It's the guy that occupies two defenders, has the skill to shield and hold it up, gives our defenders a breather, knows when and how to pick up free kicks, is a 9 out of 10 penalty taker, scores 10 to 15 a season.
