of our signings/interest in players and trying to look at every negative possible whilst creaming themselves over some nobody they might sign for 50p from Outer Mongolia . How times have changed.

They, along with a lot of other fans, seem to assume that we are in danger of going bust if we get relegated as well.

The straw clutching is quite something. They've also seem far more bothered with how we are doing this season than themselves.

I love the obsession from them and other fans who have convinced themselves that we’re going to go bust with all these fees on players.

On the si section of our finances, does anyone know how we are able to spend this eye watering amount in one season, especially as its been stated by Ashton that our spending capability is not as high as the other promoted clubs?

I'm am feeling g confident we are in good hands at the club now and are far more professional in our approach to finances than during the Evans era. Are we able to spend £20m+ on these players because we are giving them 4- 5 contract to do essentially spreading thst outlay over several seasons in the books as a depreciation charge?

This topic has been discussed at some length on 2 or 3 threads over the last couple of days.
The amortisation of player fees over 5 years as you say is basically how but there must be mitigations in place for what we do if we were to be relegated.

I would link to the threads if I knew how!

Shouldn’t they be more concerned about the loss off their best player for six games?

Mid table in the league below with their best player banned for being an absolute disgrace. It must hurt them to see how quickly we have overtaken them, and also how much more ambition we have shown in the PL than they have in recent times. Regardless of survival or no survival.

Someone told me they were singing ‘16 years’ at Luton, where they smash and grabbed a 1-0 win 2 days after we beat Chelsea 2-0. Bizarre on so many levels as during that period we have twice been above them in the league pyramid, and it’s not even 16 years yet. Strange fanbase.

Cracks me up that they are still 'counting' years we are in the division above them.

Fantastic comment on WOTB early.

Even with a 6 game ban, Sainz will beat Hutchison's STATS from last season.

We may be in the division above, have a bigger and richer history, bigger stadium, more fans, players on the verge of the England squad etc, but what really matters is one of their player will get more goals and assists in the Championship this season than one of ours did last.

I hate them, but ‘how quickly we’ve over taken them’

They were above us for years, had a good 4/5 promotions, whilst we sat in the championship and/or L1.

In terms of going up twice, that happened quickly, but let’s not pretend they didn’t have the upper hand for a significant amount of time.

They had the upper hand, but did nothing with it. In a period when clubs like Portsmouth, Wigan, Swansea and Birmingham won trophies, all they did was pointlessly bob up and down.

Doesn't that add to his point about how quickly we've overtaken them, rather than take away from it.

Great comparison.

I'm pretty sure their striker will outscore our GK from last season. Straw clutching isn't it

Also should ge noted that Sainz is a regular starter and by far their best player and usually only creative outlet.

Hutchinson made more appearances from the bench than starts last season and grew into the team as he was a young loanee. We also had creativity and goals elsewhere as 90 odd points and goals will tell you.

Still, the small wins eh. Maybe it can go in the honours section.

Added to that, he's their only real goal outlet this season (I know Sargent's been out for a couple of months, but he's not been prolific this season prior to the injury) Sainz has scored 4 times as many as anyone else, and they have limited goals elsewhere, whereas we had goals throughout the team and 3 in double figures.
