Paper talk... apparently it's Evan Ferguson 13:54 - Jan 21 with 6981 viewsSaffronWaldenBlues

On loan, but he's injured? Can we have another domestic loan in the squad? Probably a bit more useful in the top flight than Ben Doak would be at this stage in his career.

Who is reporting the Evan Ferguson link?

Don’t they play in different positions?

Can’t be right. Like the club would spend time chasing an injured striker.

Oh.

I thought that we’re allowed two domestics loans and we have one - Kelvin Phillips.

It seems we are interested, along with West Ham.

And according to the paper talk I looked at Arsenal but saw nothing of Ipswich and Ferguson.

If we could get him on the pitch for us he’s got the potential to be dial mover for us. I’m sceptical as just can’t see it reported anywhere.

Wouldn’t surprise me if we sign Julio Enciso instead. Seems more realistic given Delaps form.

I would take him.

Delap is versatile enough to play wide or behind if we signed a No9 of that quality.

We only have one domestic loan.

What is his injury and how serious is it?

If it's not too bad I'd be chuffed to bits to get Evan. With Delap and Hirst both fit we've hopefully got a bit of wriggle room to get him fit before we'd need to use him.

He'd be way, way better than I'm expecting us to get.

Can't see any paper linking us to Ferguson?

He'll have plenty of options higher up the food chain than us. And before anyone says "but we can give him minutes", lot's of established sides are calling out for a striker at the moment. He'll get plenty of minutes at a mid table side or even abroad

The only Brighton player that we've been actually linked with seems to be Enciso. And given he scored against Norwich recently, I already like him!

I think it was reported that he's back in full training now. I believe it was an ankle issue - something which he's had a few of so far in his career.

I think he would be an ideal signing if true, although if it's us and West Ham after him you'd expect he'd take West Ham unless McKenna could really convince he'd be better here.

Ferguson?
Injured and out of form this season. Cannot get a starting position for Brighton because he's out of form, whereas if Delap was at Brighton he would be starting every game.
He might come here to sit on the bench, but surely that's what he's doing at Brighton.

Yeah it doesn't make sense for him to come here with Delap flying and West Ham having no fit strikers

The fact we have Delap might play in our favour. Given his injury record I'd imagine Brighton would want him to have game time but not have him flogged like he might be at West Ham for example given their striker shortage. Plus there's the fact McKenna is a ridiculously good coach rather than just a manager.

Might well allow us to use Delap out wide at times to give us more physicality in that midfield area.
