Is Ashton 12:36 - Jan 31 with 5145 views | chicoazul | About to oversee another transfer window where we fail to land our centre forward target? Becoming a pattern if so.

Is Ashton on 12:43 - Jan 31 with 4225 views | DarkBrandon | I think we’ve signed the following strikers in the last transfer windows: Delap ———— Moore Ali ————- Hirst ————— Hirst That’s not a terrible record, is it?
Is Ashton on 12:47 - Jan 31 with 4116 views | topguy | Depends who MA has been asked to get, what those players want, im sure KM has certain players he wants and given Delap is 1st choice unless we are demoting delap to backup striker also makes it a tough sell along with league position, so i think we want the right players not any players, so before we determine it as failing to sign a lot of context behind those we are after need to be understood

Hhmmm. Hope you’re right. Letting AAH go and only having Hirst as back up, good player though he is, is walking on the thinnest of ice.

How many times… AAH was let go because we have better defenders or midfielders that could be used as the 3rd striker ahead of AAH. Him going has no effect on the squad in any way shape or form

Of course it isnt. Blows my mind people could complain about our record in the windows over the last few years. The sense of entitlement is real!!!

All those years of experience Axel Tuanzebe has of playing as a number 9.

Is Ashton on 13:56 - Jan 31 with 3063 views | Kieran_Knows | Doesn't January tend to be the window we do land a striker? It's summer where we seem to fail at that!

Is Ashton on 14:03 - Jan 31 with 2972 views | SaffronWaldenBlues | Last season in this very window he managed to sign us Kieffer Moore, who helped get us promoted. He was the target, he got him, and the mission was accomplished as a result. Jay Stansfield was obviously one we were after, but not someone we'd likely revisit now. There's both a perception that he's amazing and that he fails to land his targets and neither is true. Ashtons had a lot of hits and misses in the market since coming in, but done a decent job on balance and I would say that was a fair reflection of the business he has done in general.

Mate, AAH is so far off being PL ready. So experienced or not, AAH was a fcking hopeless pointless sub/option.

Is Ashton on 15:37 - Jan 31 with 2615 views | Stewart27 | Apart from signing the best young number 9 in the country in the summer you mean? I’d say we landed our target nicely there. Honestly why do you spout this utter tripe? Who is our centre forward target incidentally?
Is Ashton on 15:52 - Jan 31 with 2526 views | Steve_M | Not entirely sure why this is on -28, when for three summer windows in a row we've failed to bring in the striker we wanted. AS per my earlier post, we made up for it in January 2023 and 2024 so still might do now but it's not guaranteed.

Yeah, indeed. Ashton has done a lot of stuff much better than ME; this appears, in some people's eyes, to remove him from any scrutiny upon areas where, frankly, he *could* do better. The style of play we prefer, sees our No.9 run into the ground - whilst quite effective, we've been daft lucky that Delap has stayed fit, we've been rather less lucky that Hirst has got injured. Delap will be suspended for 2 games soon, whereupon we all hope a) that Hirst is fit and b) whoever comes on for him around 65-70 minutes is more effective than AAH (not difficult, to be fair). Mental that we've dropped, what, £150m on this team?... and we're daft light in this area. [Post edited 31 Jan 16:25]

Is Ashton on 16:33 - Jan 31 with 2323 views | smithy69 | It’s amazing to think people think spending 150m suddenly makes your team the best in the world and should be competing for Honours. Most premier league clubs have been spending this yearly doe there entire time in the premier league It’s really not a lot a money to create a team that can compete/even get close to competing [Post edited 31 Jan 17:28]

Probably to do with the fact that January isn't really the month we fail to land our target, we generally just take 6 months later to get them having not landed them in the previous summer. But given McKenna's comments today, it does feel like we will miss out this month, something which I thought was the case when we handed Enciso the number 9 shirt, personally.
