I’d never criticise a player for stepping up to take a penalty. Requires a lot bottle.
Only did it once in a game where we 3-1 up with a few mins to go. I was encouraged as I was terrible in front of goal even when I ventured there. I was bricking it. The shot was so scuffed it completely wrong footed the keeper and dribbled in.
My team mates were rolling about with laughter and the treatment carried on into the pub after. Goal scoring was never my thing. Never again.
