It’s gone very quiet on the striker front recently but I’m hoping that the club is still interested and is actively exploring the signing of Latte Lath. He ticks all the boxes for me and would give Hirsty some serious competition for first-choice upfront.

Too expensive for me and far better value elsewhere.

I can only think of 4 strikers off the top of my head in the Championship that we'd target, although only 1 of them generally fits how we play;

Haji Wright
Norman Bassette
Tommy Conway
Mihailo Ivanovic

None of which would come cheap, and probably the same cost as Latte Lath who we know can score goals at this level.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

7 goals in 22 matches in the MLS.

Given they aren't going to sell him at a loss and paid a lot for him it seems very unlikely to me.

He was superb in the 2-2 draw down here when we got promoted him or Ivanovic for me unless somebody comes in that no one is aware off.

No decent striker is cheap though are they, and everyone else is after them.

I just hope we dont end up with nothing of note and then get in a panic buy, because sll the other players that may have done a job for us ( but are not on our elite list) have signed for our rivals.

He is struggling to maintain a start at Atlanta. Doesn’t fit new Ashton profile.

He is smaller and more lightweight than I thought watching him play for Boro.

Latte Lath cost Atlanta £22.5m. Even if they are willing to take a small haircut you would think it is going to be the best part of £20m. I'd be surprised if we couldn't get Ivanovic (who has a bigger upside and higher ceiling for me) for £10-£15m.

The obvious answer is we should be looking to find an Ivanovic from abroad ourselves for a fraction of the cost.

I hope we have someone in mind. It’s rolling on and nothing seems to be materialising. We have needed a striker the last three transfer windows, I would hope we have a list of targets over that period of time or you have to ask yourself what is our recruitment team doing all year ?!

Norman Bassette sounds like someone who might have played for Town in the 1950s. That is all.

I'm surprised it's taken us 4 years to do business in France, given Ashton's record of signing players from there at Bristol City.

That is an obvious answer but at what point could we have given an unproven raw punt from abroad 25 starts and 40 appearances in one season, in the last few years?

In a funny kind of way we're in our best position since McKenna took over to get in this type of signing, although even now, with squad numbers and requirements would we have space? Probably a third striker instead of AAH, but not much room elsewhere and rightly so. At the moment we need proven players to at least some degree, nice as it would be to find the next few amazing cheap talents.

I suppose if they're younger than 21 they may not count in the squad numbers, I forget the exact rules.

The second he went to the MLS for £20m+ he killed any chance of playing in England anytime soon.

We shouldn't be at proper punt level though. A bit rough around the edges maybe but not punt. We should be able to go out and get a player for £3-£5m that has scored some goals in a European league, fits our physical profile and who can properly support Hirst. Cardiff managed it last season with Salech. Millwall got Ivanovic.

I think we will sign Kone from Wycombe he did well last season but it would be a big step up for him, if not I would think we would loan a young player from a premier club.

Cannot see us signing him as anything other than a replacement for AAH who, unless our recruitment goes completely of the rails, will surely go out on loan?

We need a quality striker in to replace Delap. They don’t grow on trees and will be very expensive. I’m happy Hirst has the quality needed for a promotion push but his injury record isn’t great, we need a suitable alternative.

Agree. Really like him and think he would suit our style perfectly. Would be a great signing. Good enough for when we go up as well.
