I watched the Pink’Un podcast yesterday and one of the panellists on it made a point that given the downward trajectory that they’ve been in since their last relegation from the Premier League, their unbeaten run in the derby is the only link they’ve currently got to the successful times they had through the 2010s. Not confident unless this is one of the games Greaves is suspended for and his replacement understands that getting goal side of defenders is key instead of giving them a head-start at least once every single game. I cannot fathom how any Town fan can be confident about that game given our record against them. They will up their level, we wont play to ours probably.
Just hope we have a settled team by then and hopefully have picked up a couple more wins just to have some feel good factor in the fanbase.

Nervous. Very nervous. I think most people - even the most avid Canary, would agree that in paper our squad is better than theirs but we just haven;t got it together this season.
There's an interesting piece on the Beebs sport page about Villa - how after 3 really good seasons this year the team isn't functioning. I know last year was a bit of a mare, but over all the last 4 seasons have seen progression in one form or another. So far this season we don;t seem to have progressed at all - yet. Will that change? I suspect so - though as KM and MA have warned, it may take longer than we fans would like. Will we have the patience with this? Some will, some won't! |  |

Fully expecting a Coventry-esque performance from them where we squander every chance we have and they score from their only opportunity.
Much depends on how we click in the next two games, win them both, we could easily put them to the sword with some extra swagger.

Managed to get a ticket for an Auxerre fan who we met at the friendly and he was a top bloke.
He wants to be right in the mix in terms of pre match town centre pubs, shouting obscenities towards the away fans and having a giggle.
Whilst we can assist with all the above, a Sargent goal on 10mins in the North Stand end and backs-to-the-wall holdout will no doubt be the outcome.

Yep.
Greaves is the better player and has a higher ceiling but he needs to stop making crazy decisions, too many times he is making costly or almost costly mistakes.

I think KM needs to make things easier for our cbs tbh.
Playing such a high defensive line is asking for trouble in a league where many clubs are happy to hoof it up the pitch. And this bombing forward of greaves just not needed. We didn't need it with Burgess we don't need it with greaves. Let him concentrate on being a defender.
All in all the defending has been fine but actually it's when they try and do things other than defend its when they make mistakes. | |

Don't hate him at all, I just think he is a bang average championship defender who is very poor positionally and always has a mistake in him.
So far this season, he gave away a stupid penalty to Preston, went on a ridiculous run with the ball when the rest of the team were pushing forward vs Southampton which directly led to a goal, and got sent off for being the wrong side vs Blackburn. If you add to that O'Shea's mistake against Derby, I would argue very much that our defence HAS been the problem this season... and last. | | | |

Town had 1 shot on target in the first two games. And bar sheff utd wed struggled to get goals. So whilst there were defensive errors, we had the 2nd best xga in the league our issue was not scoring enough.
Same v Blackburn really in the game that no longer exists.
Hirst and philogene score their goals. We most likely don't play such a highline as we were when greaves got sent off.
Lots of blame on defence this season so far. But apart from last week in all other games we didn't score enough of our chances. | |

I was quite confident last time out and that didn't go as planned. AFter Sheff U game I was feeling confident again but after last weekend fear it's a case of same old in recent times.
This form and our lower league cup exits are baffling.
