I've missed it greatly and can't wait to get back. There's still nothing else I'd rather do on a Saturday afternoon than go with my three generations and have that lovely stroll along the docks with the floodlights in the distance. Still get that excited feel after 40 years of the same routine.

Even if on the pitch is poor.

Can’t see it to be honest ... too much like fun, that’s not allowed in the brave new world
In all seriousness though, I’ll be very disappointed if the start of next season isn’t normal ... it’s still 6 months away ... a lot of jabbing people with vaccines can be done in that time

When you see places like Australia it has just gone back to normal ways. Watching sport hugging in bars, life falls back in place. I think we will be back next season and I have cricket tickets for sold out stadiums and euros tickets this summer so hopefully those times return before then

Let's face it most of don't go to football for the high quality sport, there's so much more to it than that. I'm definitely missing it, and the social side, even bloody Greater Anglia at the moment.

I can't see much happening this season, maybe the last month we'll be back to 2,000 fans in PR but there are more positive scenarios from Summer onwards although 'normality' is a long way off still.

I think you're being hugely optimistic if you are banking on attending the Euros.

Seems there is a story in the Times today about refunding tickets and only allowing local people in.

If we don't bin Lambert off soon I reckon we'll be down to 6k to 7k season ticket holders anyway and I'd imagine by August time it might well be possible to safely have that many people in a 30k capacity stadium.

Australia back to normal .... Really?

I haven't noticed. Yes, not as bad as there but there are still massive restrictions in place including reduced numbers in stadiums for sport.

Singing and Dancing is virtually banned or, if allowed, subject to extreme limitations. A couple of weeks ago Byron Bay, near where I live, attempted to put on a mini Music Festival. The first day was devoted to a well known local Dance Music act. There were dozens of Circles within which you had to stand with your 'Bubble'. Of course, everyone started dancing and enjoying themselves and the rest of the Festival was called off because people weren't following the rules.

Locally, there is a very popular Theater Group that I am involved in ... One of the best in Australia. We were rehearsing for a big Musical when the Pandemic hit. Been on hold since as Singing is only allowed '... when facing in the same direction.' Dancing is not allowed at all.

I could go on

We have not had a Covid case in this area for 8 Months. The nearest Community transmission in that time has been in Sydney 1000 odd kms away.

God knows what it's going to take to go back to 'normal' ...

Not such a daft question. Depends on the long term controls that are put in place. I suspect at the global level Covid is going to be around for many years to come. With good government (ha!) a zero covid goal is achievable, especially now we have the vaccine. So in theory we could get the UK into a place where mass events are possible within the next year (China and NZ have been able to have mass gatherings already as a result of their zero covid approach).

But we don't have good government, we're not following a zero covid approach and there will be may places where the virus lingers on. And there'll be a good few morons who won't have the vaccine. So I suspect international travel, potential re-introduction, mini-outbreaks, the need for controls (especially international quarantine) will rumble on for quite some time. Years maybe.

I expect the main restrictions are going to be eased as soon as most of the vulnerable groups have been vaccinated.

The virus is now endemic in Britain, there's no serious prospect of eradicating it here, so at some point the Government is going to decide there's no point in further maintaining restrictions.

Interestingly (or not), none of the current vaccines are approved for under-16's so even if we vaccinate everyone there is going to be a reservoir of covid existing in the kids. That seems to be 15% to 20% of the population so I would think that would effect the herd immunity numbers but I've not seen anything said about it.

I must have missed something somewhere, I've not looked into it though. Perhaps I will when I have time.

I predict 33-50% capacities at the start of next season, hopefully scaling up from there by the end of it.

Embarrassingly, we may struggle to sell out at those levels.

Yep, many will be naturally cautious or out of the habit even in best case — which is why we could have done without the club fc8king everything up so spectacularly and putting thousands more off.

I wonder if we won’t vaccinate children as it doesn’t effect them ( obviously we will look at vaccinations for any that have underlying health issues ). If we vaccinate the adult population who seem to suffer the worst from the effects we should cut both the mortality rate and illness rate to a tiny % rate.

I think I'll do fewer, and bigger. I was starting to not enjoy going towards the end, maybe it was too much of a good thing in terms of being exposed to so much football, coupled with how sh1t we were / are. Felt like a chore. I'm really looking forward to going back, but I won't go until it's football as I know it. I don't want to sit in there socially distanced in face mask. I think I'll probably do 1 in 4 games or something, home and away but make more of a day of it. I enjoy the pre match food and beers, soaking up some atmosphere, and a couple post match as a part of it. Can't wait for that again. Just hope Lambert isn't in charge by then as I'll find it hard to accept I'm paying his wages.

Indeed this is the thinking, it makes sense and it's the correct thing to do.

Also looks like a kids version of the vaccine should be available late 2021 so that would fit nicely with when most of the adults have finished being vaccinated.
