Would you sign Edwards again? 12:13 - May 12 with 1878 viewsBluefish

He is a senior player and in a bargaining position. Presumably he will want to be in the top 5 earners at the club. We have limits on spend and squads so would you have him taking that place as a top 5 earner or would you look elsewhere?

We'd be better off signing you?

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Yeah. I don't know what I'd do without another season of you complaining about him. Sign him up.

That is a given that Blubfish is a better footballer than Edwards, but not sure what his influence on the dressing room might be.

depends how much he's wanting. any player we want to bring in who's better than him will have a similar (or higher) bargaining position

at a similar wage to now, then yes

Let him go , too inconsistent , anonymous too many times and probably a high earner .

He has had his time here and not grabbed the chance , time for some new ambitious players to lift us .

I wouldn't, no. But based on the fact he's entertaining talks with MK Dons, we can't have offered him much?

He's not quite good enough is he. I'd say not but only if we have others lined up that are better.

We are in league one. We are not going to get Laurence type quality.

Don't need him. We already have a new shirt design.

Like a lot of our players, on his day he is good but his day doesn’t come round very often!

I wouldn’t be that worried if he went.

Edwards would be better in a 2 games deal if you knew which 2 games in the season he was going to play well.

He's 'not quite' good enough in the same way I have 'not quite' slept with Penelope Cruz.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

I'd only keep him if he was used as back up and on reduced terms. Don't think he deserves anything more after his 3 year showing.

The Edwards contract offer is particularly strange in the context of everything else we've been hearing about the club.

Cook's been talking about our lack of goal threat and lack of quality since he arrived. Edwards was a huge part of that attack, arguably the senior player for most of it. If he's being offered a new contract, it's because it's envisioned he'll be part of the squad next year, no other reason. Which gives us a flavour of how low the bar is for player retention, doesn't it?
