I assume that at least one of tomorrow’s newspapers will spill further beans that would have forced Boris to sack him. Dread to think who will replace him. Gavin Williamson anyone, or perhaps The vaccine minister who’s name escapes me.

Hancock quits on 18:36 - Jun 26 with 2377 views | Nthsuffolkblue | Remarkable. I really did think there was even any semblance of accountability left in the Government. Of course he should have gone over his mishandling of the Coronavirus response rather than because of breaking social distancing rules. I find it notable that no one seems to have found any issue with him appointing the close friend to the role in the first place.

I genuinely didn’t realise credibility was a requirement.

Clearly not when you look at a lot of these Tory ministers.

Was just saying that to a mate. From a non-covid perspective, having a competent Tory hawk as Health Sec with an 80-seat majority could told untold damage (from my POV anyway) to the NHS. Hancock's biggest quality in that respect was that he was a complete idiot.

If it was a requirement Boris would have difficulty forming a full cabinet.

He is, at least, aware of what "untenable" means (not a mid-afternoon quiz), which puts his powers of comprehension beyond those of some of his colleagues.

Hancock quits on 19:14 - Jun 26 with 2072 views | MerseyBlue | Pretty convenient for the government to be able to wash their hands of this. Agree with others that with so many looming loons on the right of the party, it's pretty concerning to see where we go from here. All of the Tories scare the hell out of me, they're cold and calculated reptilians with no concern for the people they represent.

I suspect it was the half of the conservative party that have been opposed to lockdown that are the reason for this. I reckon they would have jumped on this as a reason to get rid of lockdown restrictions completely and he would be in a very weak position to say otherwise.

Hancock. And Cummings, The guy that appointed them both to remain as teflon coated as ever.

I think it's obvious that if there was another lockdown, Hancock would have less than zero credibility in any involvement. His job was totally untenable, as was Cummings last Summer. Fundamentally, he seems a sociopathic moron. However, he's a good example of why no one should ever feel imposter syndrome at work.
