There reality of Gamechanger's plans sunk in and hearing the suggestion they have a transition strategy for the end of their tenure here jolted me a little.

Don't get me wrong, I have faith in their plans whilst they're with us, and they sound like they're doing a remarkable job in fixing up the stadium and facilities. I am very glad they took us over. It's just in that mmoment I realised that ITFC are a tiny pawn in a much larger game.

Oh well, at least they were open and honest - even when asked embarrassing questions like the Crewe game etc.

Schwartz said they could own us for 10-15 years - or even more. In that time they could transform our infrastructure and leave us in far better shape for another takeover compared with our condition post-Evans.

There’s always an end point, to everything, like Ed said it could be 10/15 years or whatever. I think the group will fall so in love with the club they won’t want to sell.

That was never in question when they took over though, always been the soundbites.

Obviously the funding comes from the pension fund currently, and for the next several years. However, there is nothing to say that The Three Lions might just stay on and seek further investment from elsewhere should they wish to.

The Evans era didn’t even get to 15 years, despite feeling like 100.

It’s when they start selling players, the good ones, when it’s going to kick off haha

I haven't got an issue with that though, it's all part of the cycle/process.

Sign players like Harper/Edwards for free/next to nothing, turn them in to £5m+ players.

Oh yes I agree and always was going to be the case but you know what Twitter and TWTD will be like!

Anyone who doesn't see that coming isn't very good at being a football supporter - or spoilt by Marcus Evans simply plugging the gaps when decent players go for nothing.

Sadly that's naivety in the extreme Sitters. Nice thought but wont happen. Nothing lasts forever. We should however enjoy the renaissance!!

Player trading is a massive part of American perception of where they can make money in the business of football.

We will recruit well, we will sell well. It is part of the business.

You look at someone like Wes Burns - bought for around £150k mark, has to be worth £750-£1M right now?

It was also this very concept that got us promoted under Burley. No one wanted to see Keiron sold, but selling him meant we got Stewart. Getting Stewart got us promoted.

Just watching it now, old fruit. A couple of points of concern:

- Mr Schwartz referred to the Club as a 'franchise'. No, sir - McDonalds is a franchise, ITFC is a football club
-Mr Ashton said he wants to 'inspire a generation'. I didn't realise Bono worked for Ipswich.

That is all for now. If there's anything else, I'll let you know at great length.

The may do, they may not. The point is that if they do move the club on and it’s in a better shape than it is now in say 10-15 years, I don’t have a problem with it. Everything has a lifecycle- even the Cobbold era that literally died with them.

It’s what is passed on. So if you look at Evans’ effort, he left far less than he bought. The argument that ‘Marcus saved us’ never cut any ice with me. Saviour Marcus saw an opportunity for a quick buck and a quick flip, but because the gamble failed he wound up lumbered with something he didn’t want for longer than he wanted. Had he had any interest in it, he’d have appointed somebody to run it that knew what they were doing rather than the gormless stooges he did put in and not hollow it out.

The current owners seem to have a plan and 10-15 years is a long time in football. Look at where Leicester were 10 years ago? If they’re successful and possibilities open up, who knows? Either way, the situation of the club is far better than it was in the hopeless days of February.

The ownership doesn't make me feel sad - as outlined in the OP.

The very matter of factness about this being a transient partnership did.

Businesses work together all the time for mutual benefit.

There's no reason a football club and a pension fund can't have a mutually beneficial relationship.

Truly impaired.

And just for context - Sir Bobby was here for less time than that! Our glory years which some of us remember all too well really only lasted 10 years.

But oh, what a glorious 10 years. If Gamechanger can give us 10 years of upward mobility, fun and some success we’llprobably done on that for another 30 yrs!
