I love my club again. 13:41 - Nov 17 with 3080 views3_5_2

Whilst we have not “won” anything yet, my feelings towards the clubs, players and fan base continues to improve.

The owners “get it” the plans we have for the ground are the polar opposite to ME in his day, mark Ashton has impressed me already, there is a passion for our club I’ve not seen or felt in years.

The support at home plus the incredible away support shows me that most fans can see where the club are trying to be. The recent initiative to pay for fans who may struggle financially (now matched by the staff and players) is another indication of just how different things are at the club

If we can get promoted, the momentum will be huge

I can’t wait for match days and I’m trying very hard to change my work to get to Charlton away, will get a ticket some how !

Anyone else or is it just me!

It does feel much more positive thats for sure.

I'd just love us to get a run together, rather than having a good result followed by a run of mediocre results.

....hopefully we can put that together soon.

Tend to agree really

Seems we've got the off pitch stuff sorted for the most but like MM , I'd love us to get the on the pitch detail sorted a little more . Just a little more consistency would be amazing .A steady 8/10 every week would suffice. Can't fault where it seems to be going but I'd like us to get there more often

Once we're settled and the consistency is sorted , it'd be one hell of a ride

For the most I'm not complaining and would rather us be where we are right now than this time last year

Things are so much better. I don't think I realised how apathetic towards the team I had become.

I'm still struggling to totally fall in love with all the new players. For instance, whenever there is mention of Evans and Burns I still have to think quite hard to get the mental image of which one is which in my head. To be honest, if Fraser, Burgess or Penney stood in front of me I probably wouldn't recognise them.

It's getting there.

The way I see it - The Evans Era wasn't "My Club" - It was a sh*tty tribute band.

Agree..... think we need remember it does take time for the playing side of things to come together but it feels like the owners absolutely have bought in to owning club and setting us right

The new owners’ attitude and work and purpose is in very stark contrast to Evans bare bones approach, oh and here’s a taped video message every few years to tell how good it’s all going. The saddest thing of all, the stuff we’re all rightly excited about - community engagement, care and attention to the little things, players doing coffee chats - none of that is particularly difficult to do. You’ve just got to have some passion and vision. Which Evans clearly didn’t care about.

If - and it’s still a medium sized if - we can get things right on the pitch we could have lift-off.

Really...considering what has gone before?

Burns is pretty recognizable (great hair) plus the fact he's generally been fantastic for us. Other than Bonne (who is still technically a loan player) Burns is my favourite player.

I'm far more in tune with these players than last seasons squad and feel more love for Burns and Bonne than i have any Town player for a long time.

I liked Chambers a lot, but he wasn't actually that great a player unfortunately.

Your second last sentence; I’m like this but with Grimes.

Its absolutely my issue, not theirs. The last few years have been so dire I've stopping paying much attention to the players. Simply couldn't bothered when given a team of likes of Hawkins et al.

We have some talented players now, but they have all come at once and it's a little too much for my little brain. Might have something to do with not having seen them develop. It's going to take me a few more games before I have to stop looking at the program to remember who the number 26 is.

I particularly like it when the 'kids' come through like Clements and EL Miz and I'm adding Bonne to that because he feels like one of ours.

Yes, there's a feeling of positivity. Simply showing a little TLC to Portman Road, giving us a sense of pride back in the club. We've been waiting for something to happen and it feels like it's finally coming. It may take a little while, but Ipswich Are Back.

Moved back to Ipswich in December 2020 after living here as a child and seeing us promoted in 91/92. Started attending home games again including Morecambe on the opening day - have even converted my other half to coming to a few games and keeping an eye on the score. Proud supporter here, and the £12K raised just increases that.

I think January will be key. I know we signed 19 players but not everyone is going to work out and I think the difference in performances shows we lack something when specific players either aren't in the team themselves or if they are having a tough game.. some others just don't step up.

Never be afraid to share your thoughts.

If the team can go on a really good run, the fans are certainly there for sure.

Even under Evans, our support was pretty impressive for this level. I think we can easily be 25,000 in the Championship.

No, it’s not just you.

I always felt the club was special. Every supporter of every club feels that I’m sure, but it really was. Neat tidy ground, a team that had a meteoric rise from amateur days, a great team for many years, a reputation and an identity. I was proud to follow this club.

Not for us stoning the boardroom windows (Bristol City c1980), a vomit inducing kit and a suitcase instead of a trophy cabinet (Norwich since the dawn of time), not a club chosen because it was doing well as many do with big city clubs. Then came 2002 and bankruptcy, shafting local businesses, flogging off players. The hope that Royle might push us back the right way against the odds - he nearly succeeded. The ever shrinking football club.

Then came Evans. Momentary hope. Despite knowing what Keane was, I squinted in hope that he would do something like he did at Sunderland. Nope, the signings weren’t good enough and neither was he. ‘Roy Keane’s Ipswich’ - how I hated that.

The doubts about Evans in my mind increased year on year. Brief flicker of hope with McCarthy but the decline in the club from the inside out was clear for all to see. It’s reputation and everything else got ever worse; mediocrity was Evans’ only objective. Then came the farce of Hurst and numbskull Lambert.

I detest what Evans did to the club. Everything that was good about it had disappeared by March this year. Hope also gone. League 2 within a couple of years beckoned followed by further decline was inevitable.

The came the takeover. Everything has changed. The owners look to be serious and the creation of structure in the club is evidence enough for me. Hope at last; people care about it.

The club is moving forward at long last and feels right for the first time in decades. It will get out of this awful league and progress.
