The first line is something I am sure many would agree with at the moment. SB Edit: Changed for clarity. [Post edited 20 Dec 2021 17:15]

It's highly doubtful Omicron will have "well and truly peaked" in just over 6 days time. SB

It is the 3 line strap line. I truly hate what this Government is allowed to get away with but that is not really helpful. It is a big step down from what Piers Corbyn has been arrested for but it is a step along that road. I think we need to hold this Government (and a large proportion of the electorate) to account but driving division isn't the way to do so.

....and in many cases the wider party due to their "politics of hate". And then they come out with things like that strap line. It really doesn't do anyone any good.

Another day of outrage at the Tories and the government and still no change, it’s like they’re not even reading TWTD.

Have they clamped down on drugs and cancelled comprehensive education yet? Taking their damn time, innit.

Got the feeling today’s case number being slightly down on Friday has led to more dithering.

I think I used the wrong phrase. I just meant the level of infections will presumably be so high by waiting until the 27th, that it is likely to have zero effect because it will have spread so much already. It's baffling we're almost two years into this, and the government still haven't learned that if you're going to do restrictions, sooner is always better.

Pure guess but I reckon it’s already been decided to bring in measures from the 27th/28th but just holding off to prevent people going wild over the next few days, and chaos in the shops etc Announcement late Xmas Eve or on Boxing Day is my bet

Ah, yes that is correct, it would be surprising if the numbers didn't continue to increase as Omicron takes hold throughout the rest of the country. I see businesses are getting upset now and rightly so. Many are saying just tell us now if there are going to be restrictions rather than waiting and waiting and then dumping them immediately so they can plan what they need to do. A quote today from the WHO (who I haven't always agreed with during the pandemic): WHO head Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said it is better to "cancel now and celebrate later, than to celebrate now and grieve later" in the context of rising Omicron cases over the festive period." Could be back to step two from the 27th on 09:47 - Dec 21 with 1021 views | StokieBlue | I see that IDS is today pushing the narrative that the effect that lockdowns have on peoples lives is as bad as going into hospital. Barclay is pushing the "economic consequences" narrative and saying people can protect their families by getting the booster which isn't really correct at this point as it won't have time to take effect before Christmas and it won't stop transmission which is still bad if the family don't have a fully working booster. There are valid morsels in both of those stances but there are also massive untruths and fallacies. Either they don't have a clue or they are deliberately muddying the waters with their statements. What baffles me is why people ignore guidance but then complain, once restrictions are made mandatory , that Government hasn’t acted quick enough. BJ may be a stranger to the truth so it doesn’t make sense to wait until he tells you must do something rather than you should do it.
