Tbf, change is the one thing the Saxe-Coburgs have done when it suited them.

Of course. And rightly so. Charles 1st was completely inflexible with his view of the world and parted company with his head as a result. The monarchy after The Restoration in 1660 was a very different beast. Everything changes. If it doesn’t, it dies. That includes the current monarchy and after next week, Charles and do have some serious thinking to do in my view.

He’s not actually been convicted of anything, has he? I ask because that odious man is not someone I’ve ever taken much interest in. We all know what he is and considerable money (possibly taxpayers) has changed hands to buy alleged (probable) victims off. But correct me if I’m wrong, no trial means no conviction.

You got that Sitters is 'proud' to have Andrew as a Counsellor of State from a Donald Trump meme that correctly points out the flaw in your OP? Odd. [Post edited 16 Sep 2022 9:30]

Would you apply the same logic to OJ Simpson? Not convicted criminally due to circumstance but lost a civil case to the tune of 34m USD. Sometimes civil cases are a very good guide to guilt even if they don't have criminal repercussions. Settling is usually done if one knows they are going to lose the case or if the settlement is less than future costs (this happens a lot for company cases but wouldn't seem to be applicable in this case). Generally correct but I believe in this case they would have settled even if Andrews lawyers were confident of a win - the public airing of every sordid detail would be too embarrassing. Even with a favourable verdict he would not come out looking good.

It is done with company cases yes, but it does happen with civil cases. It's worth remembering that no criminal charges were ever brought, (unlike with OJ), but he was asked to co-operate with the investigation into Maxwell and Epstein, (the details of his life at that time would probably of been highly embarrassing to the Queen and the country). But, It is also done when the plaintiff's attorneys privately believe there is a chance of loss and so instruct their client to accept. I've no idea which way around it was in this case, but he would certainly 'seem' to be a sexual predator and he's done nothing with his actions to convince anyone otherwise. I'm not convinced by that, with this civil case along with Epstein and Maxwell trials I think most of the details are out there, certainly enough for people to join the dots. If the conclusions that people are reaching are incorrect then it would have been in Andrews best interests to push for the case to continue to completion. If we go with your argument we are saying that Andrew paid 12m which he almost certainly didn't have in order to try and preserve some face. This doesn't make sense to me because paying someone off for 12m doesn't look good either and would push many to assume guilt. SB

I totally agree, of course they had to settle, whatever the outcome might have been. The Royal family have had to deal with enough damage caused by that nutty American woman.
Makes you proud to be British doesn't it? on 11:16 - Sep 16 with 2745 views | GlasgowBlue | Not true. Andrew is a councillor due to an act of Parliament. The King has no say. Only our elected MP’s can overturn this. Getting fed up with people constantly linking fake news without bothering to check the facts. You’re not Harry10 ffs.
