That's some accomplishment being ahead of Weds because the city is live in is a huge football City regardless of whether they've got two clubs or not . 5th or 5th largest population as well - superb from all concerned , club and fans !!!

i wonder if Evans is keeping a watching brief about how the club has been galvanized and more importantly run then he realizes how badly he was running the club and how he was essentially wasting his money every year by not having the club run correctly.

Probably happy he's not forking out millions every year to keep it afloat. He put the money in at the beginning. It didn't pay off and he soon pulled out once he saw it wasn't as easy as he was told it would be. This is why we need to get promoted ASAP before the pension pot feel the same imo.

5th is debatable, if you look at urban areas, it's more like 9th which you can then divide that into two for both the clubs Either way, they are very well supported, no doubt about it, not that Ipswich is any less football mad in fairness

Given that a sizeable proportion of Town fans still think that it’s bad to say anything bad about him I think he’s probably of the opinion that he was a good owner. There were no large scale demonstrations against him with the managers being the targets instead.

Doubt away following will be much lower than Saturday. Currently only 16 Premier League, four championship and Derby have a higher average home attendance this season. Norwich average is around 800 higher than Town. Saturday’s attendance was higher than Carrow Road capacity.

Cambridge almost sold 1,900. Their review of the game on the cufc official site said they brought 5,000 fans back in 1991. Crowd was only 20,000 so not sure that’s accurate even if you could cram a lot of fans in the north stand pens

Fair play if Cambridge sell out, I know it's a close / easy away day but on a Tuesday night I would be surprised. They brought a fair few last season but that was a Saturday.

I was 11, so can recall parts of the game but not brilliantly but didn't they (and a few other teams that brought numbers) get some of the Cobbold as well as the North Stand section? What I do remember is three of our players all leaving the ball to each other on the goal line for their goal. No idea why Johnson decided not to head it and to get back onto the line instead. “THIS IS WHAT WE WISHED FOR” - large Blue Action banner at last home game of the season, promotion having been wrapped up a few weeks earlier. I pray nightly for this to become a reality. Please, football gods, let it be.

he left an asset to rot essentially, the club could have been worth more if he'd have managed it better, i get that his spending would have been greater but it needed proper management structures, support staff was at a minimum and this wasn't a bloke who wanted to get out either from the noises coming out of the club. It was just a bizarre exsistance.

For all Lambert is mocked by many, he was so spot on about Evans and the club structure etc towards the end, and that's not even in hindsight.

That's a very good point. After initially being enthusiastic about Lambert and how he seemed to say the right things to want to make a go of it i thought he just became sour, bitter and had taken Evans for a ride with that contract. A lot of that is true no doubt and he was a poor manager here but having seem how quickly things have changed with ownership putting a football structure in place its pretty clear our managers under Evans were very hamstrung and it sounds like it was probably a hellish place to work in all honesty. Great club but working with absolutely no structure in place can't have been much fun.

Easy for him to say when he was already nailed on for the sack. Needed saying back in January 2019 when it might have cost him something.

In January 2019? Three months after having been appointed? His press conference prior to the Burton game, first game following the relegstion. It was quite telling how frustrated he was.
