After they score a goal they should all give each other a peck on the cheek in celebration. Not a proper kiss, just a little peck like you would give to your nan.

Not go probably, but I suppose it's a bit late for that. Or they could sail through the group stages and then capitulate in the knockout phase - that'll learn 'em.

Sorry, just being facetious. Anything from now on is really only a token at best and will be ignored in the pomp of the event. Best they can probably do is commit to being long-term ambassadors for any issues associated with Qatar, if they're genuine. They have the reach and wealth to make a difference back home even if they can't do anything in Qatar.

I think part of the issue is what are they protesting?

Sportswashing? Some of them play for, and the rest play against clubs involved in it.
Corruption? Again there's a slippery slope there, but it's also more about the FA isn't it?
Qatari (lack of) culture as we see it? Sets a precedent when you have America next and if any of them played in Russia there's a hypocrisy angle.

The whole thing is such a mess we've seen coming for so long, that as it gets here what do we really pick apart first? Expecting the players to protest when we'll sit at home and watch varying amounts of Budweiser, McDonalds and the like ads between hours of football is a big ask too.

The only way to effectively protest would have been to boycott it and unfortunately only Norway had the balls to do that and they didn’t qualify anyway.

Every other football association and every fan attending is in reality paying lip service and pretending to oppose the crime, corruption and human rights violations that this World Cuo represents.

The teams should get together and come up with a universally understood gesture which in of itself in not offensive, but the meaning of which is communicated away from the matches.

Like the Tommie Smith and John Carlos fists at the olympics. If a player scores and they want to make a stance, then they can use it. It is then the personal choice of the player and out of anyones else's control.

Agree with that.

Very little that they can do there. Perhaps part of the protest at home should be directed at our own government for normalising strategic partnerships and arm sales in the region and beyond with even more oppressive regimes and human rights offenders?

They say it about charity, but this stuff really begins at home.
