Thanks for recap. To the people moaning about placement of away fans… where do they think we should put them?

Call me old fashioned but isn't it hospitable to welcome away fans with good seats? If I had my way Morsy would be doing a 3 cheers for the opposition at full time and letting them go first to get their sandwiches and cadbury mini rolls in the clubhouse.

It makes sense from a financial point of view as well. As I understand it, we cannot charge more for away tickets than we would for home tickets in an equivalent section, so sticking them where we do would prove more profitable than giving them seats in either the SAR or SBR.

Oof, mini rolls. An underrated treat. Morsy doing that, and Wolfy making packed lunches for the trip home. The Cobbold spirit will return. As for the fans, if Fleetwood are bringing 53 fans we could stick them all in Cobbold lower and open up the top tier to home fans. But no doubt there’s segregation issues. There’s no other obvious place for away fans

Cannot understand how anyone could think that the best seats in the ground are on the end of a cramped Cobbold stand, nor why seats one end of the stand would be regarded as better than those at the other end,

Similarly, I struggle to see the logic of the person claiming that we're giving the away fans 'the best seats'. Given that the opposite end of the Cobbold is pretty much empty most of the time, and tends to be given to staff etc., I get the feeling that they have a very different opinion to the rest of us when it comes to good seats...

I wouldn’t say the away fans have the best seats in the house?

Makes sense to put them there, worst legroom in the ground in that stand but as they generally do not sit it's not an issue.

Indeed. The Cobbold is the most cramped stand in the whole stadium. Unless you are in D block of course :)

I wouldn't say the north end of Cobbold has been anywhere near empty this season

I've been in the away section this season. If you have long legs (as a friend of mine does) it's almost impossible to sit down. It's also a lot of steps to climb if you have dodgy lungs, like another guy I was with.

When they get Block E, it's one of the best views in the ground. Unfortunately, due to the odd occasion when big teams do use that block, the club don't sell season tickets there anymore, and rarely sell on match day.

Interesting R.E Gibbs. Ashton was at the club before he left wasn't he? And we didn't go back with another offer?

This is the issue, hence the work on turnstiles behind the Sir Alf Stand. Away fans will ultimately be somewhere in there, perhaps split between the tiers.

Didn’t West Ham have some of Sir Alf stand for one of the playoff games? Maybe I’m imagining that as can’t believe police or club would have been able to deal with lack of segregation.

We did hold talks about a week before his contract was up but think it was too little too late unfortunately. Norwich and others had come in at that point. As I think I've said before, the difference between what was initially offered and what would have been accepted wasn't much at all, so should have been handled better. Think the club expected him to sign and so didn't do anything about it for months. Think the initial offer was in the October and they didn't come back to him again until February or March.

It's the more central section that they get that's the issue, not the ones at the end.

We're charging Oxford £27/£20/£14/£7 for their tickets on Boxing Day, which is the same as we charge for tickets in Cobbold A/B and Pioneer P/Q/R. [Post edited 20 Dec 2022 15:11]

Who complained that away fans have the best seats? They are pretty poor seats, in by far the worst stand, and the seats at the other end of that stand are often the last to sell to our own fans. Edit: Now I've read the thread I see that this has already been covered! [Post edited 20 Dec 2022 15:24]
