He’s not the only one, but safe to say Dozzell is not loved there.

Pre his very nasty injury he was so so highly rated. Fairly sure Liverpool were trying to get him. Think that had a huge impact on him personally.

And we were responsible for making the injury far worse by not subbing him off when he first went down.

Oooofff......poor old Andre! on 14:46 - Aug 8 with 4527 views | J2BLUE | He's completely wrong for them at the moment. He would be better off moving down to league one if he can get a three year deal somewhere half decent. He's out of contract next summer and can't imagine this season is going to do his stock much good. A good season in league one and he could reset his career. And yes, a good season from his is a gamble right now but one worth taking unless he's on big money there.

I think somewhere like Charlton would be a great move for him. Seem to want to play the right way and not a million miles from QPR so wouldn't have to uproot.

Quite interesting to see the England U20 team that beat Germany in Colchester in 2018. Some hits, some misses. England U20s: 1 Aaron Ramsdale (AFC Bournemouth), 2 Reece James (Wigan Athletic, loan from Chelsea), 3 Adam Lewis (Liverpool), 4 Sam Field (West Bromwich Albion), 5 Easah Suliman (Emmen, loan from Aston Villa), 6 Trevoh Chalobah (Ipswich Town, loan from Chelsea) (C), 7 Grady Diangana (West Ham United), 8 Joe Willock (Arsenal), 9 Eddie Nketiah (Arsenal), 10 Andre Dozzell (Ipswich Town), 11 Elliot Embleton (Grimsby Town, loan from Sunderland) Substitutes: 17 Marcus Tavernier (Middlesbrough) for Dozzell 63, 12 Lukas Nmecha (Preston North End, loan from Chelsea) for Embleton 63, 16 Ronaldo Vieira (Sampdoria) for Field 63, 18 Eberechi Eze (Queens Park Rangers) for Diangana 72, 15 Flynn Downes (Ipswich Town) for Willock 89

He went down for treatment a few minutes before that, he carried on but went down again and went off on a stretcher - he should have been subbed off it was obvious he was hurt the first time

Genuinely interesting team….. with perhaps only Eze and James fulfilling his potential. Quite interesting where those players came from too. The make up of a current U20 team might be very different with a few more from the ‘big 6’

plus Ramsdale Fair few have left Dozzell behind now. Tavernier who replaced him is doing OK at Bournemouth

Just read the whole article and the writer slates every single player who started, not just Andre. It's brilliant and you can feel his pain that his beloved team is cr?p. The only player who gets real praise is the sub who gets booked for kicking the keeper and not giving up.

I would imagine Ronaldo Vieira must always find it tough living up to his name, unlike his team mate Harbey Kerslake.

Very unlucky in his early years when as promising-but-fragile youngster he suffered a horrible injury then a couple of seasons under two post-Mick managers who appeared to think that good coaching involved knowing the local bus times and an owner apparently as committed to solid infrastructure, robustness of support services and sustainability as the UK government. He may very well still have not made it here under McKenna and Gamechanger but he'd have received a much better grounding and stood more a chance moving on.

A nice Saudi move would do him, even in their second division, good on the ball and slower tempo it'd suit his game well..

...and our piss-poor sports science/rehab setup at the time. Plus, by the time Andre was truly match fit again he was subject to the 'coaching' of Hurst and Lambert. Whilst you can't rule out the old 'perhaps he wasn't really good enough' part in the first place and obviously personal attitudes to training, coaching and improvement those two strike me as having been massively detrimental to his confidence and development. Imagine what McKenna could have done with a fit and focused triumvirate of Downes, Bishop and Dozzel with the functional club set-up we now have.

Combined with his lazy, attitude and the dressing room he had at Ipswich. Even he himself admitted that Ipswich was a comfort zone for him. [Post edited 8 Aug 2023 19:17]

Last season the shout was that we couldn’t comment and criticise because Dozzell had a bad injury and he was, in actual fact, at least playing a league higher. Now the only thing to fall back on is his injury, which was a very long time ago. Dozzell was a constant in Lambert’s team start of the 20-21 season when we went unbeaten and to the top of the table. In spite of that, his performances (other than a great assist away at Gillingham) were largely forgettable. Bottom line is, he doesn’t have all the right attributes needed to take his career to the next level. That’s irrespective of injury; just ability, which is what many folk have been saying for years.
