Feel worse about tonight than I did on Saturday 22:15 - Aug 29 with 5397 views | pointofblue | Yes, we replaced the entire starting XI but Reading made eight changes and had a load of kids out there, yet we made life very difficult for ourselves. I know we are looking to strengthen and I guess tonight, to an extent, shows why. On Saturday, we had a mad ten minutes but otherwise played really well against quality oppositiojn. Tonight felt more like us under Cook - a lot of possession, and lot of build up play but struggling to convert and (more) silly mistakes at the back against a pretty weak side. We're through, and that's good, but it was tougher than it should have been.

Feel worse about tonight than I did on Saturday on 22:21 - Aug 29 with 3540 views | Vaughan8 | As long as we didn't get thrashed I'm not too concerned. It's a game to get the fringe players game time and from the stats looks like we dominated. You can't expect it to click straight away.

This isn’t the pizza cup, it isn’t a Micky mouse cup. Tell that to Pep who celebrates winning it like he does the PL. Any cup that we are in now is important ffs.
Feel worse about tonight than I did on Saturday on 22:22 - Aug 29 with 3484 views | StochesStotasBlewe | We’re through. Leeds have just been knocked out on penalties by Salford and they had 80 million pounds worth of forwards on the pitch 2nd half. Bit of perspective. If we get a plum tie in round 3, I’m sure a stronger starting eleven will be picked. Uppa Town.
| We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub. |

Plenty of upsets in both rounds so far. We've changed our team completely in both games and gone through....and we didn't used to do this haha. Nothing but positive. Most of these lads get another game which keeps the squad ticking over.

Oh it most definitely is a Micky Mouse cup - no club of note has ever won it!

Feel worse about tonight than I did on Saturday on 22:23 - Aug 29 with 3425 views | BigCommon | Freddy off the mark. Slicker penalty save. Minutes in legs for a lot of fringe players. Came back from an unlucky start to the match. Through to the next round... Job done. Move on, regroup, good couple of days on the training pitch. Get up for it against Cardiff at home, Saturday...Whats not to Like?
Feel worse about tonight than I did on Saturday on 22:23 - Aug 29 with 3426 views | the_toff | Changed the whole team including 4 or 5 players who have started less than 5 games for us. It’s always going to be somewhat disjointed. Despite that we limited them to 0 shots on target until the 88th minute, away from home. Not to mention the fact it’s a bit of a pointless exercise in a cup we’re not going to win. Minutes in legs and all that. It’s all about Cardiff on Saturday.

Are people expecting us to be Champions League contenders already? It's really noticeable that the negative posters have been desperately waiting to crawl out of the woodwork but our excellent start had put their flouncing on hold.

Feel worse about tonight than I did on Saturday on 22:25 - Aug 29 with 3347 views | Churchman | An entire reserve team had a runout away from home. We had 65%-35% possession, 16 shots to 4, 6 on target. I didn’t see the game, but from your post I assume Reading’s under 11s dominated us throughout? No? thought not. It’s a Mickey Mouse cup game. We are not going to win it. Players got a game and now have another coming up. It’s all good and even if we’d have been booted out, it wouldn’t have mattered. I’m glad we got through for the amazing supporters who went to the game. As for Saturday, I presume you’ve not seen it. Have a look at Blue Monday and that’ll give you a good appraisal of how it was - the good and the bad. [Post edited 29 Aug 2023 22:29]

Consider the FA Cup important? Don’t look back at the team sheets for the games last season then.

The cup is atrocious and should be removed. But if we are in it it’s very nice to win football matches and nice to give our reserves a run out.
Feel worse about tonight than I did on Saturday on 22:28 - Aug 29 with 3234 views | benrhyddingblue | Oh grow up, it’s the Carabou cup or whatever it’s called. it’s basically a reserve team game for fitness - we won on pens and get another, but to compare it with the weekend is juvenile.

Ha, very true. Though we drew over 90 minutes tonight. Performance wise, we were more dominant tonight but were wasteful up top. Then came the silly errors at the back, which were more pure mistakes than partially a result of the skill of the opposition. If I'm honest, I'm getting frustrated over one moment - their equaliser. If we'd won 2-1 would I be feeling fine? Yeah. Which I fully acknowledge is stupid.

Feel worse about tonight than I did on Saturday on 22:32 - Aug 29 with 3104 views | John_Warks_Willy | I personally think winning again so quickly after Sat, however we did it with whatever personnel, is very important to our next more important game. Pressure straight back off and everyone can relax a little that they haven’t forgotten how to win. So cheer up and enjoy the ride

Why should it be removed? A league and two cup comps isn’t much to ask of a squad is it?!

I don’t get why we as a fanbase view any cup as “Mickey mouse” given that we’ve been devoid of any significant silverware for 40+ years now! Ipswich is a big enough club to take on and win the League Cup. Just look at what Leicester did in the 90s. There’s no reasonable we can’t.
