I’ve already solved this problem. Attach each of the away fans to a helium balloon with a tether. They can float above old Staples car park, drip trough underneath, cracking view, what’s not to like?
Any misbehaviour, cut the tether. They get a free ride and a free balloon.

This is so true and is exactly why Bournemouth will spend £40.2m on a striker and not expand their tinpot stadium.
The fact the ownership want to expand the stadium is striking, given that Bournemouth and Brentford will happily stay at under £20,000 for as long as they can. A redeveloped Cobbold will add value to a potential club sale in the future, but they won't make their money back in gate receipts, hospitality etc. for a very long time. |  | | |

True, but with the majority, if not all, of the others it was traffic calming down side roads/residential areas. Portman Road isn't really neither, so I think it might have played a part. Admittedly, developing the Cobbold Stand looked a long way off at that point. | |

It does rather surprise me that, along with all of the various stipulations about light levels, massage rooms for referees, and countless press-box seats, the PL haven't introduced a slightly more rigorous minimum capacity as part of their entry requirements.

It should be sufficient to build behind and over the Cobbold stand, before dismantling existing structure. That should minimise the reduction in capacity while construction get underway.

Or just not have visiting supporters. I seem to recall the Premier League allowed that for Newcastle when they were renovating St James Park in our relegation year. I seem to recall Town opened up the Cobbold Stand for fans to watch the game on a big screen. | |

I've not known anything like it!!
In 1992 Had no problem on a match by match basis
In 2000 again very little problem making games either home or away despite by then living in the North East with limited opportunity for Portman Road games.
Yet now in 2024 - no chance whatsoever in the on line scramble dance for every game.
Probably have to get relegated before I have any chance of getting into PR again. [Post edited 30 Sep 2024 22:10]
