| If mckenna leaves can we admit that he just used us ?? on 03:48 - May 21 with 5734 views | Westcountryblue | What a ridiculous post. What he achieved last season was nothing short of a miracle and we should be thankful for the time and effort that he has put into this club to get it back into the promised land. It's a job and his career and we'd be naive to assume that Brighton is a sideways step when they are much further down the line in their Premiership journey and we will never be as big (in this lifetime) as the likes of Manchester Utd. | | | |

| If mckenna leaves can we admit that he just used us ?? on 05:10 - May 21 with 5657 views | Vegtablue | Leaving for Palace in February would have been a cold, arguably logical decision. Thankfully he demonstrated loyalty, without which we wouldn't have secured this incredible opportunity. He put our interests first that month. There is nothing unscrupulous about leaving now, should he wish to advance his career at a quicker pace than we wish he would. He couldn't have worked harder during his time here, couldn't have given more back to us; the success in the timespan is unreal. His interests were always to be as successful as possible. We've benefitted hugely. Your post reads as though you are accusing him of possibly exploiting us, which is a ridiculous charge. I can't think of many more mutually beneficial partnerships than the one we've enjoyed to the fullest. We'd all love there to be another chapter or two, but in the event there isn't, I can only hope all future ITFC managers leave us in as healthy a position as we find ourselves today. | | | |

| If mckenna leaves can we admit that he just used us ?? on 07:40 - May 21 with 5121 views | Europablue | You have to imagine that he saw us a stepping stone and not the final destination in management when he joined us. He showed incredible confidence in himself to join a league one club, when it was a huge risk to get trapped in that league and maybe even end his management career before it started. We have to be grateful that he ever joined us, but the manner in which he engaged with the fans on an emotional level and became part of the redemption of the club means that he feels more than a manager, he's someone we really care about. If he leaves us for Brighton he's making a big mistake because he's giving up that special relationship and he'll never have that with Brighton. Who knows, maybe he is such a good manager because he's ruthless and has ambition to get to the top as soon as possible, but he didn't represent himself like that to us, in fact at the awards dinner he represented himself in an entirely different manner. So if he does leave, we will always be thankful, but he won't be a club legend and he won't have that special relationship with Brighton. He should be able to get the Utd. job in 2 years, but he could have done that with us too. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

| If mckenna leaves can we admit that he just used us ?? on 08:32 - May 21 with 4730 views | BloomBlue | It's a job and like many of us who have/are working we move to different companies. Brighton have been in the Prem for a few years and as a result has built up a prem squad. Yes we have wealthy owners but we are still constrained by financial rules and it will take us more than one season to build up a prem squad. His success chances in the Prem will be higher with Brighton next season. Conversely if he does move and it goes wrong for him there then the negative impact will be greater on his future career than if he stays and it goes wrong here. McKenna took us from L1 to the Prem, rejoice in that. His ability would always mean he ends up at a top 4 team eventually. Also it would be nieve to think there aren't other good managers out there. Ashton pulled a rabbit out of the hat with McKenna, no reason why he couldn't do the same again. | | | |

I guess, from my view, it does stick a bit that he made overtures towards Palace during the promotion run in and Brighton over the summer. The suspicious side of me does wonder how it affected our early transfer business, whilst he was making his mind up whether to stay or go. But I'm speaking as a fan. To McKenna it's a career.

Clearly a talented coach who all things right will have a huge future as a manager. At what point did you think he was just going to stay with us all of his career?
