Brentford made an approach to Ipswich Town on Monday for Omari Hutchinson, although a deal is felt to be unlikely at present. Hutchinson is on holiday after being given extended time off by Ipswich following England’s triumphant Euro Under-21 campaign at the end of June. Brentford see the 21-year-old among a small number of potential replacements for Bryan Mbeumo should he join Manchester United. Hutchinson has a relegation release clause worth £35million, which Brentford fell significantly short of meeting. That expires on Tuesday and so far he remains an Ipswich player. I guess it's going to be key what Omari is thinking when he comes back from his holidays. If he comes back and says he's not up for the Championship and wants to move I could see us entertaining a structured deal starting below the £35m release clause but taking us to or beyond it with add ons. Hopefully he won't be agitating for a move and we'll still have him here next season. |  |

Although agents are always going to want to have their clients' names out there so doesn't necessarily indicate that Omari wants to go. McKenna was constantly in the press linked to every job under the sun last summer and that is not something I can imagine came from his instructions. | |

We spent very good money on Omari, put plenty of faith and work into his development, and the release clause does right by him imo. It provides us with modest profit for a big outlay from our club's perspective: fair protection for both parties.
Consequently, I would be very disappointed if we allowed him to leave for less. He would have known when he signed that relegation was a distinct possibility. He would known the performance levels needed to leave after the first hitch, to raise his valuation to £35m, should that be his preference.
