His football isn't that unattractive, is it? If we can't get SG John Beck would be my alternative choice, obviously.

I always knew you were a Norwich plant. In Kim Jong Un style, it is time for Gav to take control. Gav! Ready the anti-aircraft weaponry!

Sack Him Go Get Grayson on 17:18 - Nov 1 by Superfrans | Never rated him. That's based on his promotions with four clubs, I presume - Leeds, Huddersfield, Blackpool and Preston? |
Our last 3 managers all had promotions behind them but had failed in their previous job and were past their prime, so on that basis it would be more of the same.

Sack Him Go Get Grayson on 17:35 - Nov 1 by Superfrans | Four promotions at four different clubs, in eight years. But let's not hire him because you don't like his haircut (or something). You realise how silly that sounds? Of course, I understand that we all have personal likes and dislikes. But presented with anyone (and this is not just about Grayson) so highly qualified, we can't afford to pass on them because of such personal prejudices/preferences. |

Sack Him Go Get Grayson on 21:31 - Nov 1 with 5309 views | Nthsuffolkblue | I would suggest Sunderland are in a better state than we were when Mick came here. He may well feel he has unfinished business there and I think a number of fans have got under his skin recently. Also it is a different ownership there from when he left before. I would imagine a reasonable possibility of him going there. If we were to get Grayson in on the back of that I think it could benefit us. Aside from that I struggle to see who I would be confident would do as well as MM has with us. It is always possible there is someone who would be a great fit and do it but for every punt on someone like that there are 20-odd clubs taking a similar punt and nose-diving in the wrong direction.

Bring in a manager with parachute payments, far better players, bigger wage bill and 23rd in the table?! Hmmmmm. I'll stick with Mick.

Sack Him Go Get Grayson on 17:12 - Nov 1 by PhilTWTD | Comes across very well with the press when we've played them as well, for what it's worth. Journalist I was talking to last night has a lot of time for him. I was hoping he'd get sacked by Sunderland nearer the end of the season as I thought he'd be a good successor to Mick, assuming he departs at that point, which I think is almost inevitable now. I suspect SG will get another job before a vacancy comes up here. |
Are you insane? Don't answer that.

Not at all. No problem having different views. It’s just “I don’t like the look of him” as a reason to not appoint someone is just daft. Surely you see that?

An evaluation of the candidate's alignment to whatever strategy ME thinks he's trying to implement here. It would require judgement and an understanding of the game and people, rather than a lazy criteria that could result in managers of wildly different character, ethos and ability. As proven 3 times over. Not saying it's easy though.

Sack Him Go Get Grayson on 08:46 - Nov 2 with 5112 views | hype313 | Going forward I would like us to look further afield, otherwise we will just get a clone of Mick. Huddersfield, whilst spending money, have done very well with a guy no one had heard of. Lets look to the continent, rather than just tread water with safe dull managers.

Were Paul Jewell and Roy Keane just like a couple of willing but rather ineffective, ultimately failing, contestants?

That's all fair enough. I don't remember anyone going overboard about Preston. But, when we played them away last season, they looked neat and tidy. I just liked the look of them. That, coupled with his track record of promotions, makes him a good choice, to me. And, of course Jewell had a good promotion record. So did Keane, and McCarthy. But I don't think we're going to start from the standpoint that we *won't* appoint someone because he has a good promotion track record. Presumably we want someone who has had that success? Anyway, happy to agree to differ. That's fine. That was never my issue.

Don't really think Grayson can take the blame for the parlous state Sunderland are in. His sacking after a couple of months is a symptom of how badly they've ben run for a number of years. It was always going to be a very bog job for someone to turn them around but the owners seem to want instant success.
