I hope his press conference tomorrow puts some strong business and vulnerable people support in place. Although I have no idea what could be done at this point. It’s political unchartered territory.

Why can’t we just have all the info now? Or is this like a Netflix series with a cliffhanger at the end of every episode? What’s episode 3? More information about the pumps teaser?

I'm 15 again!

The only track where my grunge loving son has slowly gone to the car radio/cassette player and turned the volume DOWN because of the intensity of the attack at the start. I don't think he was too comfortable with the rest of 'Join Hands' either.

I let 'Playground Twist' play through on YouTube and then let Happy House, Spellbound and Israel just follow on.

You think there are enough nannies to cover all the childcare that would be needed who don't already have roles or their own kids?

I don't think you are really grasping the levels required here at all.

There are plenty of Nannies out there or people who could be provided some level of compensation to look after children so parents can go to their job.

Look at what you’re saying, the kids of front line workers need to suck it up so that services can continue running.

We are going to need to adjust our thinking. It’s not compensating people to look after children of front line workers. We all need to do our bit.

I’ve offered to look after kids of MrsN’s friends that she works with. I’ve offered to do shopping for them. I’ve even offered to fix cars for them if they have issues.

I am a limited man, but I know where I can help.

The only way we get through this is by pulling together. Communities, online, and on the street.

Hindsight is always 20:20, and we need to evaluate everything at the right time.

But how many times do you want to be tested? Just because they test you today and its negative doesnt mean you wont catch it tomorrow. There are 60million people in this country to test everyone every day isnt feasible.

I think you need to put your sensible head on

No the WHO didn't say test everyone their point was test people with symptoms, the WHO know no country can test everyone of its citizens plus it's pointless testing people who dont have the symptoms as you would need to do that every day, one negative test doesn't mean you wont catch it 24 hours later.

When you look at other countries capable of shutting schools and dealing with it you ask "why can't we?"

I admit I'm hardly an expert on the subject but there's a lot of questions here to ask that drill down to that.

This is why I'm at home and not working in healthcare. That's your job ;)

But a large chunk of the country have legitimate concerns that should be addressed. This is a discussion forum, not the front lines.

Genuine question: would you feel safer being tested? To me it seems like a no brainer based on what other countries have done. And how would school closes affect your work?
[Post edited 17 Mar 2020 10:09]

No other country has even attempted to test everybody. They generally focus on geographical regions (Daegu in South Korea) or on specific risk groups (what the UK was doing).

Simply not feasible given the need to have a collection kit and the processing required to get a result. If there was a "quick and dirty", but still accurate, test, then things would be much easier to deal with. Cases could be identified sooner and selective quarantine practiced.

Healthy people with no link to known cases or hotspot regions are going to be well down any list for potential testing. Not saying we shouldn't do more, but it's going to be a while before they're handing them out to the likes of thee and me (unless we fall ill).

I believe SK has tested the most at 3500 per 1000000.

The WHO has said our test rates, which are core to fighting this, are well below par though.

And above we have a link to a UK manufacturer saying we've not even bothered to order any whilst they're being sent around the world.

I'm not saying test everyone, I'm saying we need to do what we're advised by experts based on data that already exists.

I don't think I've stretched far in my logic for anyone to say that.

You just said this only an hour ago. You do want everyone tested. It's not physically or fiscally possible.

Have a day or two off.
